Sorry we're a bit late with
the matchup previews this week. Late night last
night...you know how it is. Wow! Some absolutely
stellar games last week!! I had bee-, uh, I mean
beverage spills and wing remnants all over my floor.
I was on the edge of my seat all day but I ended
up losing 2 RB by halftime and a WR in the first
Q and still won my Fantasy match-up that mattered.
How awesome is that? So my boys are healing fast
I hope because I am stoked about this weeks games
and my Fantasy match-up looks to be a beast with
my hurting unit. Yapping your ear off here won’t
help them heal or you to win so I move to the previews.
New York: The G-men have
rolled people this year however against
weaker D’s than they face this week.
I expect Eli to find open WR’s Burress
for 80 and a short TD and Toomer for another
60. Shockey may rip the Cowboys up the middle
for 100+ a score. Barber is dangerous but
faces a very good rush D so expect a 100
total yards but Jacobs may score on the
ground. Defensively the Gmen have a weak
pass D with Peterson out and the key is
stopping the Cowboy run game and putting
Bledsoe on his back.
Dallas: NFC
East rivals, does it get better than this?
Bledsoe has been on fire and expect a 250yd-3TD
game if JJ suits up and is healthy and much
more if he isn’t. Jones is nursing
a leg injury and Dallas will rely on Witten,
9/100+TD and Glenn 7/120 to move the ball
and Keyshawn and Crayton to catch TD’s.
Expect a TD on the ground but I won’t
guess who will get the carries this week.
Dallas’ young aggressive D could cause
problems for Eli if the run game is ineffective
so they may give up points to the young
slinger but expect a couple turnovers as
well.
Carolina: Steve
Smith to run back kicks? No doubt get the
ball in his capable hands and good things
happen. With the RB situation a mess in Carolina
expect Jake to go to the air and get Gardener
and Colbert involved more. Smith will still
get 100+TD but expect Gardener to score and
Colbert to make a few big catches on third
down. Defense hasn’t really recovered
from the loss of Jenkins but they do get the
awful passing game of the Lions and that should
mean Peppers finally snaps his lethargy and
rolls Harrington and creates a few turnovers
Detroit: Battle
of the big cats and Harrington is going to
quiet the boo-birds this week by having a
good game. Shocker huh? His top WR’s
are hurt but Roy will play and show his toughness
going for 6/100+TD. Maybe we’ll see
a DB play WR today, both McQuarters and Bly
could help but Kevin Jones will start to emerge
this season after a slow start and rip for
120 total yards and a TD. Pollard has to hang
onto the ball or we will see more 3WR sets
in Lion-ville. Detroits D has played much
better the past few weeks and they should
be able to pressure Delhomme and force a few
turnovers this game and should stop Davis
from being a factor.
Atlanta: What
happened to the stalwart run D we saw last
year? No worries Vick will be back and if
he isn’t Schaub will pick apart the
pass D for 300+ again. Assuming Vick plays
watch the Falcons grind it out on the ground
and Duckett and Dunn will have their best
games of the year with 200 between them and
Vick chipping in another 40. All will score
and Crumpler should be the main target with
60 and a score. Defense will try to stuff
Smith without Hartwell and need to rush Brooks.
Haven’t gotten it done in turnovers
or big plays and need to step up.
New Orleans: Man,
no Deuce hurts the Saints big. He was the
offense and Brooks hasn’t played like
the big time QB he will need to carry them
this year. Smith has lost his speed but he
will still make a Saints run game respectable
with 80 and a short TD. Stallworth has to
be more involved and I expect him to go for
140 and a TD with Horn out and Conwell to
grab 60 and a TD. Defense is the Saints jeckyll-hyde
but if they can contain Vick and the run game
they match up well, if Schaub plays they are
in trouble.
Minnesota: Did
losing Randy make the Vikes randy? Porn cruise
aside this game has massive implications for
Minnesota who were supposed to contend for
a Superbowl. Cpep has to play better or Moss
will haunt him forever and I don’t see
it against the Bears. Moore will have a 80
yard day and score and Williamson will get
deep on a couple and score. The Vikes O is
in disarray and it won’t turn around
this week. Defense will have to win this game
for the Vikes but pressuring a rookie QB will
help. Vikes can escape if D steps up like
they can.
Chicago: Welcome
to the NFL Mr. Benson! I expect a huge Cedric
day in Chicago and T. Jones may not start
again even as great as he has played. Benson
will roll up 150+TD as the Bears grind it
out and watch Bradley explode for 7/105 and
Mush grab another 80 yards. Lovie knows his
D is their formula for success and he’ll
give Benson 30 carries to see what he can
do. The Bears pass rush and ability against
the run will be problematic for an already
floundering Vikes O. Expect a few turnovers
and maybe even a score from the D in this
one.
San Diego:
Has all the makings of a shootout but Brees’
status for Sunday’s game is in question.
Lt will rip Oakland like he always does and
don’t be surprised to see him close
to 200 all purpose yards and a couple TD’s.
Gates has made some incredible plays and will
be a favored target no matter who tosses the
ball he goes 8/80 +TD. Parker will get his
first TD on a bomb. San Diego has to hate
facing Moss but Jammer is improving and SD
can get a pass rush to disrupt Collins.
Oakland: Collins
and Moss have been happy together and have
another great game. Moss should get 6/160
and 2 scores and Porter will be healthier
adding 100 yards. Jordan may find lanes small
but should top 100 total yards and will be
more dangerous in the pass game. Anderson
will look to keep up with Gates and grab 6/45
and a TD. Oakland will load up to stuff LT
but that won’t help their lax pass D.
If they get QB pressure this could be an upset
for the Raiders. They are the best 1-3 team
in the league and are coming off a big win
against a solid Dallas team.
Washington: Solid.
Best way to describe the Redskins start to
the season. Brunell has given the offense
a boost and watch for Moss to have a big game
10/120 and a TD. Portis will juke and shake
his way to a 150 total yard 2TD day against
an ailing Chief D-line while Cooley chips
in with 6/60. ‘Skins strength lies in
their defense and their ability to stop the
run but they will need help against a great
KC run game and may give up more passing yards
as a result. This will be a close contest
and the ‘Skins have been great in close
games.
Kansas City:
Roaf is back, finally. Good news because now
Gonzo runs routes instead of blocking. Why
he is blocking in the first place is beyond
me, anyone? Gonzo goes for 8/110 and 2 TD’s
and shakes off early season while Priest/LJ
roll up 200 yards and a score between them.
Kennison is a decoy after he grabs a long
one early to keep WAS safeties deep. Defense
has to stuff Portis by stacking the box and
force Brunell to throw deep then hope Surtain
can keep up to Moss. Rookie LB Johnson has
to start showing his big play ability this
week.
Baltimore:
Lewis has started to look like he should but
he needs to do more while Boller is out with
a bum toe. He should top 100 yards this week
and rumble for a TD. Mason will be the main
target this week for Wright and likely goes
8/90 and a TD while Heap gets another 6/75
to extend a few drives. Clayton will breakout
but not as long as Wright is the QB. Defense
is a mystery to me. Maybe this 4-6 isn’t
the scheme but after last week’s passion/penalty
filled contest look for the Ravens to be angry
and controlled this week forcing turnovers.
Cleveland:
Dilfer is playing well and last weeks last
minute win in Chicago should give the offense
some confidence going in to face another tough
D. Bryant faces a tough match up but is the
only target so 7/80 and a TD is reasonable.
A long TD is a possibility too but Northcutt
or Jackson could haul it in when the Ravens
get burned on a blitz. Shea will find little
success against LB’s and the run game
is non existent. Defense will pressure Wright
and stuff the box to control Lewis which will
keep Cleveland in the game as long as the
O keeps the Ravens D off the board.
