Sixteen games for the first
time since week 3 and I am so stoked about a few
of the match ups this weekend. Headlined by the
Indy-Cincy battlefor in the AFC, this weekend has
some interesting games and I suppose a few dogs
but those dogs sometimes turn out to be the barnburners
we never expect. Every week there is a tremendous
upset in the NFL but that is what makes it great
and why I tune to track fantasy studs and those
guys that come from nowhere a la Samkon Gado. Enough
of the aimless typing and we’ll get to the
point, the game by game fantasy previews are next…
Buccaneers: Simms looked
great last week and was helped out by the
run game keeping the pressure off him. This
week the Caddy gasses up and drives the
Bucs offense for 100 and a score against
the Falcons. Simms will look for Galloway
who has exploded this season no matter who
has thrown the ball to him, expect a big
game of 100 and a couple scores while Hilliard
complements with 60 yards. TE Alex Smith
may thieve a TD from Galloway and go for
50 yards as Simms gets more comfortable
in the offense. The defense will look to
man up and stop the run as Portis ripped
them last week and the DVD running attack
of Atlanta is much better than any team
they have seen yet. Tampa has had success
against Vick in the past but this is a whole
new year and this battle is for a wild card
spot at this point in the season so expect
the battle to be fought with emotion and
motivation from both teams.
Atlanta: Vick
may want to take a little criticism after
losing to GB last week and the Falcons fumbled
away a shot to remain in a first place tie
with Carolina. Not that Vick was bad but
200 yards passing against a poor pass defense
and 3 fumbles aren’t exactly a great
game. Look for the Falcons to get back on
track and run the ball with Warrick Dunn
who should total another 100 yards and score
while Duckett works back in with 50 yards
and a score. Vick should find Crumpler to
extend drives for 60 yards and Vick may
scramble for another 50 when the Bucs miss
on run blitzes. The Falcon D has to improve
against the run or they will be on the outside
of the playoffs come January. The defense
does pressure the QB though and Simms will
turn the ball over if pressured so the D
in Atlanta can step up and help Vick talk
trash next week if they can limit big plays
from Caddy and Galloway.
Panthers: All the hype none
of the ego. Jake and Steve had an off week
and I think another tough match up this week
but they will get it done and Smith goes for
80 and a TD. Davis could have a big game scoring
a couple short TD’s while Foster racks
up 80 all purpose yards in his best effort
of the season. Colbert has to step up on the
opposite side of Smith with another 100 yards
or Jake will feel the heat. Look for a TE
to get involved while Bears LB’s focus
on stuffing the run. The defense has finally
stepped up and started to play like a championship
defense and have the best defense in the league
against them this week. A solid defensive
effort this week should create some turnovers
and limit the weak Bears offense, expect the
Panthers and Peppers to roll.
Bears: Orton
has been good this year but the Bears have
yet to beat a winning team and he must play
a defining game in his young career. Expect
that to happen and the Bears to ride the run
game and Jones for 100 and a score. Orton
will play smart and poised getting Muhammed
involved against his old team for 100 yards
and a score, maybe 2. Desmond Clark should
be a factor as the Panthers tend to forget
about the TE at times so 80 yards is possible.
This game pits two of the better teams in
the NFC but definitely two of the better defenses
and the Bears depend on their D for big plays
and get them week in and week out. Urlacher
should handle the run game and the Bears front
will pressure Delhomme, if they force turnovers
the Bears could be 7-3 next week.
Dolphins: Is this the week
the Dolphins quit splitting carries? Brown
has been by far the better back this season
and if the Dolphins want to make a run at
the East division he has to get more offensive
touches. I think he rolls up a big game to
the tune of 100 and a TD against a weak Browns
run D. Chambers could have a big week if new
QB Rosenfals can get the ball to any receiver
but expect a mediocre day for Chambers with
7/90. McMichael will get a few looks and may
have 60 and a score but Ricky will make the
most of his opportunities this week and get
50 yards. The Phins D has to be aggressive
and limit the Browns rush game and get heat
on Dilfer when he drops back. Expect that
to happen and the Phins to create havoc with
the Browns offense and likely take control
of the game with Taylor and Thomas leading
the charge.
Browns: Droughns
has come out running from the fourth game
of the season and is helping the Browns…helping
them not get blown out. Droughns should roll
up another 100 total yards but scoring will
be tough. Dilfer has been less than average
after a hot start and Frye could be closer
to the game than the sidelines this week.
Bryant is the main man in the pass game and
should have 80 yards and a score while Edwards
should get more involved this week and could
break a long one for a score. The defense
will be pressing the QB but must play the
run tough first as they have been susceptible
to opponents rushing attacks and Miami has
a good one. The Browns don’t have enough
playmakers on defense to challenge many teams
and this game will be determined on offensive
mistakes more than great defense
Lions: Joey can do no right
in Detroit, imagine a QB throws 250 and 3
TDs and he gets yanked the next week. Garcia
gets to face the Cowboys and will try to get
the ball to Roy Williams, the number 11 Williams
that plays for Detroit, not the other one.
Roy should be a threat and roll up 100 yards
while Rogers gets free for a couple grabs
on the other side. Running game is lacking
and this isn’t the week to start any
Lion RB Jones may get 50 but little else.
Jason Hanson may be the most valuable offensive
player this week which isn’t good. The
defense is solid and has played much better
the past couple of weeks but they will be
tested on the ground and the air. Expect the
DL to pressure Bledsoe when he drops back
and the CB’s will have to make plays
for this game to be close. I think Detroit
stands a better chance with Joey but Mooch
is the coach…for how long?
Cowboys: Finally
yanked out a game they should have lost. Watch
for the Cowboys to rebound with a better effort
this week especially on the ground where Julius
Jones will take the majority of the reps and
roll for his first 100 yard game and score
at least once. Terry Glenn will rank up 120
and a TD against over-aggressive CB’s
while Keyshawn contributes 80 yards. Witten
should have a better game ripping the Detroit
soft middle and score on a 20+yarder. Bledsoe
will get back on track and won’t make
mistakes but 250 and a couple scores will
lead the Boys to victory. The defense will
pressure the Detroit QB and expect sacks and
turnovers galore as Garcia returns to action
on a bum leg. Ware could have a monster game
here from the outside and Williams will be
in the box a lot to create big plays against
the run and blitz the weak Detroit protection.
Dallas rolls.
New Orleans vs New England
- Week 11 Fantasy Preview
Patriots: Put up a huge win
last week behind the valiant effort of the
Brady led offense and clutch turnovers by
the D. Brady will have to be amazing again
but will feel more pressure from the Saints
line. Dillon if healthy should have a big
game and score while Branch is more than a
match for either CB and should have 120 yards
and score. The TE combo will total 100 yards
and a score against a weak Saints D and Tim
Dwight could break a long TD. The defense
will try and force mistakes from Brooks who
doesn’t need much help doing that most
weeks. The pass D however will be under fire
all day and the NE D will man up to try and
stop a weak NO rushing attack. If the D creates
turnovers and wins the field position battle
NE can pull out another win.
Saints: Brooks is fighting
for his career and looks apathetic doing so.
He must get Joe Horn involved this week who
will have his best effort going for 120 and
a score. Stallworth could be a monster as
the NE CB’s can’t keep up to him
and tackle poorly when they do so expect Stallworth
to have 100 and a score as well. Smith has
been, well Smith-like since his big game against
Chicago and will have good numbers but Stecker
could bust a long run against a floundering
NE run D. The defense will pressure Brady
as it is the best part of their defense and
the CB’s need the help to try and create
turnovers from Brady who will throw the ball
40+ times. If the NO D can pressure Brady
and limit the rushing attack to 150 yards
or so they can outscore a NE team ravaged
by injury
Indianapolis vs Cincinnati-
Week 11 Fantasy Preview
Colts: The offense has reminded
us why everyone had this team picked to compete
for the AFC title this year. Peyton Manning
has found Harrison again and the two are lighting
up the scoreboard while the ‘Edge’
just keeps slashing his way into record books.
Expect marvelous Marvin to go for 100 and
score while Edge should be closer to 150 total
yards and score twice. Reggie Wayne is solid
on the other side and could go for 80 and
a score. Dallas Clark emerged as a fantasy
stat last week but he is not a big enough
factor to consider…yet. The defense
has rolled over opponents but expect a stiffer
challenge from the Bengals offense, because
it is the best they have faced to date. This
game will expose their defensive weaknesses
even though they are few. If they can stop
the running game and Freeney can disrupt Palmer
the Colts roll…if not this is a shootout
they could lose
Bengals: Palmer
has been this years QB sensation with a breakout
fantasy season. This is a massive game for
the Bengals offense to prove themselves so
expect them to show off some of their talent
in a big way on Sunday. Expect Chad Johnson
to go off on a national stage for 150 and
2TD’s while Rudi will contribute a solid
100 yard effort and score. Perry will steal
a score from Rudi and Housh should be open
on the other side for another 100 yards. Henry
is the Xfactor and if he can exploit the nickel
on a deep ball the Bengals will win the shootout.
No one expects the Bengals to stop the Colts
but they match up well because in the pass
rush and defensive backfield they are strong
and aggressive playmakers. The DL gets ripped
by James for a huge game but the defense may
be able to hold in a two minute passing shootout…believe
it the Bungals have left the NFL
Philadelphia vs New
York Giants - Week 11 Fantasy Preview
Eagles: Life without Donavon
and TO. Tough for the defending champions
but expect them to play tough D and re-establish
a running game like last week against Dallas.
McMahon is a solid prospect at QB and has
potential but McNabb was getting killed and
McMahon is no McNabb. Westbrook loses little
value and might increase his value as he goes
for 80 total yards but could score twice and
Gordon chews up 60 tough inside yards. Lewis
and Brown will combine for 120 yards and one
score while LJ should be the main target in
the pass game and grab 100 yards and a TD.
The Eagles D has all the pressure on them
now as they must protect the offense and force
turnovers from the opponents and give their
O a short field. The Eagles veteran defense
is the reason this season is not over yet
but they have reach a level they have not
played at all season.
Giants: Gmen were awful
last week…awful, awful, awful. Don’t
expect a repeat performance against division
rival Philly this week but Eli will have to
shake off the bad game. Plaxico Burress must
step up and be the WR the Gmen thought they
were getting or Eli’s struggles continue.
Plax should have 80 yards this week but Shockey
will be the man as he rips the D for 8/100
and a score. Barber is leading the Gmen and
will try and exploit a Philly run D that is
leaky on the road for 100 and a score. Toomer
is the Xfactor, if Eli figures out that he
is open as Plax is doubled the Gmen should
win as Toomer puts up 80 and a score. The
defense played well in the loss and has improved
weekly with Strahan leading it don’t
expect them to fall off this week. Strahan
has been on the losing side in Eagles-Giants
matchup for too many years. This game is too
close to call.
Cardinals:
The Cards are a passing team because they
are awful at running but they don’t
protect the QB very well either. They will
try and change that this week establishing
Arrington, who goes for 100 total yards and
a TD against a weak Rams run D. Fitzgerald
and Boldin are bottled lightning and will
have 260 yards and 3TD’s between them.
Warner thinks revenge and rolls up yet another
300+ yard passing game against a his former
team. His penchant for throwing INT’s
will not hurt the offense but could put his
defense in a precarious spot once or twice.
The Cards D has been an enigma looking good
for 80% of the game but giving up huge plays
and being backed up by offensive turnovers
hurts their effectiveness. Shootout won in
the last possession…Rackers?
Rams: The
Rams must win out this season or get ready
for next. I don’t think that is what
this offensive football team had in mind in
September. Expect Bulger and the Rams to come
out on fire and go for the throat with a big
game by Torry Holt 9/125 and a couple TD’s
while Curtis grabs 100 and a score. Jackson
will be the focal point of the attack as the
Rams chew up yards and possession time and
scores as Jackson goes off for 135 and 2 TDs.
Key will be Bulger avoiding the rush which
Jackson’s prowess will provide. The
defense will have to force turnovers and score
on them or create field position for the offense.
They will have to play cautious and protect
against the big play from the Cards vertical
passing game but neither defense can stop
the offense.
