Every week we will provide
a Blitz Package, which is our way of giving an overview
of the weeks upcoming games and our expectations
in a quick hitting preview. We’ll run down
the match-ups and give our insights on offensive
and defensive components to help you be the most
informed fan on the planet…in less than a
minute. We’ll dig deep into the war chest
and review plans of attack and expose team secrets
that could prove to be the difference between winning
and losing.
Well things in the wacky world
that is the NFL are starting to shake out and the
upcoming platter of games is an interesting slate
to say the least. I am looking forward to more than
a few and think the season is on the line for a
few teams beginning this week. 0-3 teams need to
make a statement or the season is almost lost and
the undefeated teams need to impress again or have
fanatics question their mettle. Oh I can ramble
on and on and on but I’m jacked and the previews
are next.
Cincinnati: “Who
covered 85 in 2005?” Hilarious! Chad
Johnson is a star and the most charismatic
guy in the NFL and a big reason Palmer is
setting the 100 yards of green ablaze. Expect
a few TDs and CJ is likely to grab one with
Rudi having a rush TD and 80+. Surprise,
surprise Cincy’s D is another reason
for Palmer’s great start, they are
ball-hawking and aggressive…start
‘em all.
Houston:
Did any team need a bye week more? Hopefully
new OC Pendry can keep Carr upright and
get the ball to AJ often, I think he will.
I don’t expect the Texans to roll
over with young talent and expect a big
day from Davis 100+ and TD. Texans D is
sitting a couple guys who start and that
kind of shake up may motivate them…this
game is closer than anyone thinks.
Denver: Jake
looked good at home and the running game rounded
into form. Are the Broncos the week 3 team
or week 1 team? Expect a low scoring affair
but Lelie is good for 100+ a TD. When Anderson
isn’t pounding it for 80+ into the solid
Jags D, Plummer’s play action works
well. Champ is hurt but plays deserving credit
and the Broncos D will focus on stuffing Taylor.
Jacksonville:
Offensively the Jags need to open up the pass
as teams are loading up on Taylor. Leftwich
is banged up and taking too many hits but
Jimmy is the best safety blanket in the game
and has 100+. Taylor should roll up a TD and
80 yards. Defensively stout the Jags will
look to stuff Denvers rush attack and force
Plummer into costly mistakes.
Philadelphia: McNabb is hurting
and this may not be a game to expect great
numbers. Owens is 100yds and a TD and Westbrook
is the MAN but McNabb must play through all
the pain and avoid taking hits. Controlled
passing and Gordon may get a TD this game
but LJ will be a popular target short. Defense
will have to stuff the run but also create
turnovers to help McNabb out.
Kansas City:
Are they mad? Blown out in Denver and played
poorly so look for a great effort and some
big numbers from the offense and particularly
Green and Gonzo who may hook up for Tony’s
first 2 TDs of the season. Priest/LJ should
be decent but don’t expect huge numbers
but one will score. Get after McNabb!! Chiefs
will need to apply pressure and shadow #36
or else…
San Diego:
LT LT LT! After forgetting about their star,
SD used him alot and the G-men paid dearly.
NE is in the same boat and LT rolls it up
for 100+. Brees will have a decent gamefind
Gates for 100 + TD and McCardell could have
a decent game. LT is the star…feed him
the ball. Chargers are going to get ripped
unless they can figure out pass defense, not
this week.
New England:
Brady will have a big day, he has to. Branch
can’t be covered and Dillon rounding
into form so both should top 100 and a TD.
I like Watson to score and rip SD deep middle
all day. Brady should be a 3 TD guy today
but this game has scoring as defensively the
Pats have Harrison and the rest of the secondary
out. A great scheme only goes so far without
players.
Buffalo: I
love Bills WRs. While Losman plays they are
waiver wire fodder so look for a big day from
Willis McGahee. He is good enough that everyone
knows he’s coming and he still gets
it done. Losman needs to improve and quickly
as his stud receivers are wasted. Spikes is
a huge loss but this is a veteran group and
is strong in the secondary and front four
keeping games close.
Saints: After
3 hostile road games the weary Saints may
use the emotion of the first “home”
game in San Antonio to rally. Deuce will be
a menace with Takeo out so expect his first
100 yard day and a TD. Horn is hurt and draws
Clements so if you have options sit him but
Stallworth & Conwell are a go. Saints
D will pressure Losman but need to focus on
stopping Willis first.
St. Louis: Bulger
has been good and Holt spectacular. This will
continue as they hook up often with Bruce
out. Curtis will be a deep threat as he out
runs the defense on a few occasions piling
up yards and a TD. Jackson will run amok and
score as the G-men try and shut down the pass
game. Rams will must stop Barber and make
Eli stand in the pocket then pressure him.
New York:
Eli has played well and Shockey has been his
target along with Burress. Shockey will have
a big game and score as the Rams will try
and stack up Barber who will still go for
80. Burress must get open deep to ease the
pressure on Eli and worry the Rams average
secondary. Pressure Bulger without getting
beat for big plays. Easy huh? Not with this
secondary…shoot-out!
Tampa Bay: Whoa…Chucky
is back riding his new Cadillac. The real
story in Tampa is that D is back in the Bay.
Greise will play safe and the Bucs will ride
Cadillac all the way so look for a good day
and 30+ touches and a TD. Galloway should
break free when Lions get too aggressive.
Defensively the Bucs will continue to make
Harrington the focus of boos and questions
in Detroit.
Detroit: Kevin
Jones needs to get the ball 20+ times to help
Harrington out. The short passing game has
not been effective and neither receiver is
built for it. Mooch needs to get deep with
Rogers and Williams but the week off should
help the offense side, we’ll see. Defensively
this team has not played to expectations,
they need to start this week and sideswipe
a Cadillac.
Colts: Paging
Peyton Manning, Manning to the field…the
season has started where are you? Break out
week? I think so. The Titans have been ripped
defensively and Harrison, Clark and Stokely
score while Edge goes for 130+ yards of offense.
Defense thou hast arrived…Dungy straightened
this out and did it quickly. McNair is dangerous
though and they will be tested.
Titans: McNair
must be awesome if Titans stand a chance and
want to be the team to break the Colts undefeated
streak. WR Calico should have a big day and
Brown must go for 80 yards or better to keep
it close and they will. Troupe will score
and have five grabs down the middle. Pac-man
starts, lucky him facing the best QB-WR combo
in the game, baptism by fire.
