Every week we will provide
a Blitz Package, which is our way of giving an overview
of the weeks upcoming games and our expectations
in a quick hitting preview. We’ll run down
the match-ups and give our insights on offensive
and defensive components to help you be the most
informed fan on the planet…in less than a
minute. We’ll dig deep into the war chest
and review plans of attack and expose team secrets
that could prove to be the difference between winning
and losing.
The pretenders and the players
are starting to emerge. I am not surprised by many
of the results last week and there is an awesome
line-up of games this week and I am straight to
the previews…
Chicago:
Orton should find success this week with
WR Bradley added to the starting lineup.
Jones will have success to the tune of 100
total yards and a TD. Bradley and Mush will
also have success and one will score. Bears
lead by D and will shut down the Browns
at the line and try and force Dilfer into
turnovers.
Cleveland:
Off a bye Dilfer has to stay hot and that
is tough against a menacing Bears D. Edwards,
Northcutt and Bryant can make plays so Dilfer
will try and get them the ball often. No
RB worth talking about but Suggs should
be healthy at least. Browns must stop Jones
and try to pressure Orton to create turnovers.
New Orleans: Duece
should bust loose again this week and be huge.
Brooks found Stallworth finally and he should
roll up 100+TD with Horn hurting. Conwell
will be used over the short middle and maybe
a short TD pass. Defense played well vs BUF
but Farve is always dangerous. Pressure, pressure,
pressure
Green Bay: Farve
is dangerous when cornered and 0-4 is cornered.
Green is hurting and has been less than effective
so Davenport should carry the load. Driver,
Ferguson and Martin will be the threats on
offense this week. Defense just needs to stop
someone, sometime and create a turnover or
two.
Tampa Bay: Cadillac is in
park which has owners scrambling for Pittman.
The Bucs rely on the run game to open up Galloway
and look for Clayton to be more involved this
week. Griese will have to limit mistakes and
throw for TD’s. Defensively stuffing
Martin is always the best plan against the
Jets…but Vinny?
New York:
Man, Vinny is the best option? Why have a
3rd string QB at all? Anyway Martin is going
to have to come up huge and Vinny still has
a dangerous arm. Coles and Baker maybe worth
a play on the chance Vinny is standing long
enough to throw. Defense must make huge plays
and turnovers or Jets go 1-4.
Seattle: Hurting
at WR this week won’t be a huge factor
as Alexander should be the ‘Hawks attack
mode this week. Jurevicius could be a TD factor
and Warrick should get some chances to break
free. Mili returns but not much help. Defense
has to pressure Bulger and force turnovers
because the Rams will score.
St. Louis:
Bulger and Holt will have a good day, but
only because they do every Sunday. Jackson
needs to get on track but Martz’s boys
win through the air so expect all WR’s
to have good games. Defense has to try and
stop Alexander first then pressure Hasselback
in an effort to create turnovers which they
need to win
New England:
Wow! A whipping at home left the Pats looking
vulnerable but Brady will dust off the jersey
and make plays this week. Branch and the TE’s
should have good days but Dillon has a tough
time. Defensively there is no easy week against
Vick but Pats need to stuff the run game.
Missing Harrison…ouch
Atlanta: Home
against the beat-up champs after a dominant
win and Vick is probable. Atlanta may not
pass at all this game and Dunn and Duckett
should roll up yards and TD’s. Crumpler
will extend a few drives. Defense is solid
and will stuff Dillon but may have trouble
stopping Brady all day, enough to win.
Miami: Off
a bye week Frerotte will be patient in the
pass game but only because the Fins will try
and use rookie RB Brown for a 100+ yards and
a TD this week. Chambers should make a few
big plays and McMichael should score. Defense
will try and shut down Willis but with a new
QB will have to be wary deep
Buffalo: Holcomb
starts so I would activate Moulds and Evans
as the Miami run D is stout. Holcomb will
come out slinging and his receivers are very
good. MacGahee will still go for 100 and a
TD but Moulds should score too. Defense will
have to shore up the run D or this will be
a long season.
Baltimore:
These guys have to solve offensive problems
starting with Lewis. Lewis has been sub-par
and needs to pick it up because Wright doesn’t
worry defenses much. Mason could have a decent
game and Clayton is dangerous. Defensively
the Ravens need to do more to help a brutal
offense including score
Detroit: Joey
looked OK in the 2nd half last week and I
expect him to make strides again this week.
Williams is a star, Roy that is, and will
produce this week. Jones needs to break loose
and this is a tough week to run. Defense was
solid last week and can help create a win
with another solid effort.
