Blitz Package
- Fantasy Football Preview - 2005 Weekly Matchups
We hit ya hard and fast, like a blitz
we at wageronfootball.com are jacked about the upcoming
NFL season. Every week we will provide a Blitz Package,
which is our way of giving an overview of the weeks
upcoming games and our expectations in a quick hitting
preview. We’ll run down the match-ups and
give our insights on offensive and defensive components
to help you be the most informed fan on the planet…in
less than a minute. We’ll dig deep into the
war chest and review plans of attack and expose
team secrets that could prove to be the difference
between winning and losing.
Kicking off
with Thursday’s prime time matchup
of the defending champion Pats impending
battle with Al Davis’ new look Raiders.
Here’s what we see
New
England: Belichick has a pair of
new coordinators this season but don’t
expect the Pats to change their attack on
offense or defense. Brady will move the
ball with a short controlled passing game
against a porous Raiders defense. Dillon
should finish the game with over 100 yards
and a TD when Brady mixes in the occasional
run to keep the D-line at bay. Branch, who
has proven tough to cover, should finish
with 80+ yards and a TD and Givens should
get deep for at least one long completion.
Defensively the Pats will try and confuse
Collins with schemes. Blitzing will be dangerous
against an explosive Raider offense.
Oakland:
Turner will look to go deep early and get
his shiny new toys Moss and Jordan involved
early. NE has no scheme that can cover Moss
and I expect a monster opener from Moss
with a couple TD’s and over 100 yards
and Jordan to rush for 80 and score on a
short run. Porter could very quietly put
up 100 yards if Moss gets open early and
NE rolls the coverage to help out. Defensively
Oakland needs to get pressure on from the
front four to stuff Dillon and force quick
throws from Brady underneath. Tackling must
improve from last year or the offense will
be the Raiders only defense.
