NFL Week 9 Fantasy Football
Tips
This is our waiver wire pick-ups column. The
WagerOnFootball.com staff will scour the free
agent pools in fantasy land for the best available
talent every week. Availability, of course,
depends on the league. We’re using 12
team, 15 roster spot leagues as the median,
but we’ll look for roster candidates for
leagues of all shapes and sizes. Grab the following
before NFL Week 9.

WEEK 9 FANTASY FOOTBALL WAIVER WIRE |
1. Seneca Wallace |
Waiver
Wire - QUARTERBACKS
It's good
that Wallace tossed for three TDs, but
his passing completion percentage isn't
great. He'll get the job done in Hasselbeck's
place; if you have no other choice but
to start him, he's worth using vs. Oakland
in Week 9. |
|
Waiver
Wire - QB'S
The Florida Times-Union reports that
Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio insisted on
not naming a starting quarterback Monday
to keep the Titans guessing. "I'd
just as soon hold that competitive advantage
and not give it to them," Del Rio
said. Monitor this situation as whomever
starts for Jacksonville in Week 9 will
be a solid bye-week replacement |
|
Waiver
Wire - QB's
Young was motivated against the Texans
for not taking him with the No. 1 overall
selection in last year's draft. Young
didn't have to do much against Houston
and should be considered a No. 2 QB for
Week 9 against Jacksonville. |
|
Waiver
Wire - RUNNING BACKS
Once again, things in Denver are confusing
with the running back situation. Wire
reports say Mike Bell will get the start
this week. Keep an eye on the situation
during the week to see if Shanahan gives
any inside information. |
2. Wali Lundy
|
Waiver
Wire - RB's
Houston RB Wali Lundy had 116 yards
rushing on 18 carries and five catches
for 33 yards against Tennessee. Lundy
looked great against the Titans. Consider
him a good No. 2 RB for Week 9 against
the Giants. |
3. Jamal Lewis
|
Waiver
Wire - RB's
Ravens RB Jamal Lewis totaled 109 yards
on 31 carries at New Orleans in Week 8.
Lewis notches his first 100-yard game
since December 19, 2005. While the 109
yards looks good, he did it on 31 reps
for an average of 3.5 yards per carry.
That's not very productive, so don't consider
this a hugely successful game for Lewis.
|
|
Waiver
Wire - RB's
Fargas didn't start the game in the backfield,
but was the feature back once the Raiders
realized he could penetrate the Steelers
defensive line. If LaMont Jordan is still
nursing a sore back in Week 9, Fargas will
likely again be the featured back against
the Seahawks. |
|
Waiver
Wire - WIDE RECEIVERS
Bengals WR Chris Henry returned from his
three-game absence against Atlanta with
five catches for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Henry has been a Fantasy surprise this season.
Consider him a good No. 3 WR for Week 9
against Baltimore. |
|
Waiver
Wire - WR's
Reche Caldwell caught seven passes for 84
yards and a TD in Monday night's win over
the Vikings. It was a season high for Caldwell,
who was a main target of Tom Brady. It was
his first TD as a Patriot. Caldwell remains
a decent No. 3 receiver entering Week 9
when the Pats host the Colts. |
3. Jerry Porter **
Add in Deep Leagues ** |
Waiver
Wire - WR's
Raiders WR Jerry Porter had one reception
for 19 yards in a 20-13 win over the Steelers
in Week 8. Porter has been a second-half
player for much of his career, and here
he is fresh and ready for the second half
of the NFL season. Owners are urged to pick
him up for depth at receiver for now. |
|
Waiver
Wire - TIGHT ENDS
Houston TE Owen Daniels had nine catches
for 99 yards and two touchdowns against
Tennessee. (In Garbage Time) Daniels has
been a nice surprise at TE this year.
Consider him a good No. 2 TE for Week
9 against the Giants.
|
1. Seattle Defense/ST
|
Waiver
Wire - DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS
They'll be very low this week, and nobody
will like them but if you need a defense
start em vs the Raida's on Monday Night
Football. Why? The Raiders had 70 yards
of offense last week. Seattle's D will
be coming into this game Royally Pissed
Off!!
