NFL Week 8 Fantasy Football
Tips
This is our waiver wire pick-ups column. The
WagerOnFootball.com staff will scour the free
agent pools in fantasy land for the best available
talent every week. Availability, of course,
depends on the league. We’re using 12
team, 15 roster spot leagues as the median,
but we’ll look for roster candidates for
leagues of all shapes and sizes. Grab the following
before NFL Week 8.

WEEK 8 FANTASY FOOTBALL WAIVER WIRE |
1. Charlie Batch |
Waiver
Wire - QUARTERBACKS
Batch came
off the bench for Roethlisberger, who
was knocked out of the game, and completed
eight of 13 passes for 195 yards and two
touchdowns. If Roethlisberger is ruled
out for the Steelers' game against the
Raiders, Batch has definite fantasy value. |
|
Waiver
Wire - QB'S
Wallace will start at quarterback for
the injured Matt Hasselbeck, who is expected
to be out 2-4 weeks with a right MCL sprain.
He throws well on the run and has the
potential to throw accurate deep balls.
|
|
Waiver
Wire - QB's
Romo saw his first action of the season
Monday night in relief of Drew Bledsoe.
Romo completed 14 of 25 passes for 227
yards with two TDs and three interceptions,
but coach Bill Parcells said he would
not name a starter for Sunday's game at
Carolina until later in the week |
|
Waiver
Wire - QB's
Huard has been solid filling in for Green
but unless you're in the market for a
bye week starter he doesn't have much
fantasy value. The Chiefs keep Huard on
a fairly tight leash and continue to emphasize
RB Larry Johnson. |
1. Wally Lundy
|
Waiver
Wire - RUNNING BACKS
Lundy came off the bench to gain 93
yards and score a touchdown in last week's
victory over Jacksonville, as Samkon Gado
started for Houston. Lundy should still
get the majority of carries based on his
performance against the Jacksonville. |
2. Leon Washington
|
Waiver
Wire - RB's
Washington led the Jets with 20 carries
for 129 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's
win against the Lions while splitting
the load with Barlow. Washington was impressive
but keep in mind that the Lions' run defense
was missing DT Shaun Rogers |
|
Waiver
Wire - RB's
Were Benson's two TDs in Week 5 good fortune
or a sign of things to come? The truth,
as always, probably lies somewhere in the
middle. Benson is a gifted goal-line runner
and the obvious successor to RB Thomas Jones
as Chicago's feature back. |
|
Waiver
Wire - WIDE RECEIVERS
Booker sustained an apparent finger injury
during Sunday's game. He is also dealing
with a pectoral ailment. Booker has been
banged-up for much of the season but has
two weeks to recover. He should be on the
field against the Bears in Week 9. |
|
Waiver
Wire - WR's
There's little reason to think that Holmes
won't factor more in the Pittsburgh offense
as the season moves forward. Neither Wilson
nor WR Nate Washington has done much to
guarantee playing time opposite Ward and
Holmes gives the Steelers an explosive deep
threat. |
|
Waiver
Wire - WR's
Price has demonstrated that he occasionally
still can get loose. Operative words: "occasionally"
and "can." That doesn't mean he
will deliver nearly often enough for fantasy
owners. |
|
Waiver
Wire - TIGHT ENDS
Martin has an excellent frame and good
athleticism and hands. He is quick and
has good body control and outstanding
leaping ability. He can avoid the jam
and play under control. He has improved
as a route runner and appears natural
getting out of his cuts.
|
1. Kansas City Chiefs |
Waiver
Wire - DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS
This week vs a Seattle QB making his first
start. On last week vs San Diego: Chiefs
coach Herm Edwards wasn’t complaining
about the result, but he wasn’t
happy the Chiefs let Rivers and the Chargers
out of some tight situations. The Chargers
converted on third-down plays far to much
for his liking.
