NFL Week 6 Fantasy Football
Tips
This is our waiver wire pick-ups column. The
WagerOnFootball.com staff will scour the free
agent pools in fantasy land for the best available
talent every week. Availability, of course,
depends on the league. We’re using 12
team, 15 roster spot leagues as the median,
but we’ll look for roster candidates for
leagues of all shapes and sizes. Grab the following
before NFL Week 6.

WEEK 6 FANTASY FOOTBALL WAIVER WIRE |
1. Matt Leinart |
Waiver
Wire - QUARTERBACKS
Not to jump
to judgment, but it is amazing how far
Leinart fell in the '06 NFL draft. Leinart
was very impressive Sunday, but will face
his first real test this week against
Chicago. Stay far away from the rookie
this week, but keep an eye on his performances
thereafter. |
|
Waiver
Wire - QB'S
Rivers was 24-for-37 for 242 yards with
two touchdowns and one interception in
Sunday night's impressive victory over
the Steelers. Head Coach Marty Schottenheimer
decided to let his quarterback throw the
ball on Sunday night, and Rivers didn't
disappoint. |
|
Waiver
Wire - QB's
Gradkowski, who made his first career
NFL start on Sunday against New Orleans,
went 20-for-31 for 225 and two touchdowns
and no INTs. An impressive debut, no doubt.
But Bucs opponents will have a better
idea of what to expect from Gradkowski
moving forward. |
|
Waiver Wire
- RUNNING BACKS
Washington is starting to look like he
could become the feature back. He should
receive the bulk of the carries again
this week, but don't expect another 100-yard
effort this week. For now, he isn't much
more than a decent flex-option. |
2. Lendale White
|
Waiver
Wire - RB's
White and Travis Henry will most likely
serve as the team's active running backs
against the Redskins this Sunday. But he
still appears to be the back to own in Tennessee,
even if its unlikely that any Titans runner
will have more than fringe fantasy starter
value this season. |
3. Cedric Benson
|
Waiver
Wire - RB's
Benson scored the first two touchdowns
of his career in Sunday's win over Buffalo.
We knew this was possible all along, but
it happened pretty suddenly. Chicago likely
will continue to start RB Thomas Jones
while gradually adding heavier doses of
Benson to game plans. |
|
Waiver
Wire - WIDE RECEIVERS
Johnson could get the start against Chicago
this week in place of the injured Larry
Fitzgerald (hamstring), who will be out
for two to five weeks. It remains to be
seen just how prominent a role Johnson will
have on Monday, and if Troy Walters will
be the one to actually get the start. |
|
Waiver
Wire - WR's
He's big, strong and, as a converted quarterback
and relatively inexperienced receiverm,
has upside. Coming off a three-catch, 78-yard
performance against St. Louis, he seems
to be maturing along with San Francisco's
offense. |
|
Waiver
Wire - WR's
Welker had a team-high nine receptions for
77 yards Sunday. He could see more action
if WR Marty Booker (shoulder, pectoral muscle)
is out for an extended period. |
|
Waiver
Wire - WR's
Parker had five catches for 86 yards without
a touchdown on Sunday against Pittsburgh.
This was by far Parker's best game of the
year as the team put the ball in the air
a whole more than they had been. |
|
Waiver
Wire - TIGHT ENDS
Wrighster had two catches for 13 yards
and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the
Jets. Wrighster steadily contributes a
few catches for around 30 yards week in
and week out.
|
1. Washington Redskins |
Waiver
Wire - DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS
Redskins will be happy to get healthy
against a rookie quarterback. Washington's
defense has been a mess this season, but
Titans QB Vince Young should change that
as long as the Redskins can contain Young's
scrambling.
