NFL Week 2 Fantasy Football
Tips
This is our waiver wire pick-ups column. The
WagerOnFootball.com staff will scour the free
agent pools in fantasy land for the best available
talent every week. Availability, of course,
depends on the league. We’re using 12
team, 15 roster spot leagues as the median,
but we’ll look for roster candidates for
leagues of all shapes and sizes. Grab the following
before NFL Week 2.

WEEK 2 FANTASY FOOTBALL WAIVER WIRE |
1. Chad Pennington |
Pennington
threw for 319 yards and two touchdowns
in Sunday's win at Tennessee. He completed
24-of-33 passes and was not intercepted.
A brilliant debut for Pennington, on the
heels of a very mediocre preseason. The
task figures to be a lot harder against
New England next week, however. |

Waiver
Wire - QB'S
Grossman completed 18-of-26 passes for
262 yards with one touchdown and one interception
in Sunday's win over the Packers. Grossman
came out of the gate on fire Sunday, hooking
up with Bernard Berrian for a 49-yard
TD pass on the Bears' first possession.
He settled in and looked sharp for the
rest of the game as well, connecting with
Muhammad and Clark on a number of occasions. |
|
Waiver
Wire - QB'S
Carr completed 18-of-27 passes for 208 yards
and one touchdown Sunday in Houston's loss
to Philadelphia. A nice performance from
Carr, who didn't throw a pick but was sacked
five times and the team didn't score in
the second half. He completed six each to
Andre Johnson and Eric Moulds |
|
Norwood gained 66 yards on 10 carries
in Sunday's win over Carolina. The Falcons
dominated on the ground, piling up 252
rushing yards on Sunday. If he consistently
receives a similar workload, Norwood is
a good reserve option |
2. Brandon Jacobs |
Waiver
Wire - RB's
Jacobs will get plenty of TDs, just not
every week. Jacobs will be the Giants' main
goal-line back, taking over for Tiki Barber
and seeing plenty of scoring chances. He
is a good bet to score this week vs Phili.,
especially in what figures to be a high-scoring
game. |
3. Travis Henry |
Waiver
Wire - RB's
Henry carried nine times for 22 yards
with a pair of touchdowns in Sunday's
season-opening loss to the Jets. Meanwhile,
Chris Brown carried 16 times for 64 yards.
The time-share may tilt in Brown's favor
at the moment, but if Henry turns into
the team's choice around the goal line,
he could end up having as much, or more
fantasy value than Brown. |
|
Cotchery had six catches for 65 yards and
a touchdown in Sunday's win at Tennessee.
We'll need to see more from Cotchery before
we consider him a viable fantasy starter,
but this is was a solid first step for him. |
|
Waiver
Wire - WR's
Came through with an impressive performance
in his first game as a pro, hauling in four
receptions for 49 yards and a touchdown.
At 6-4, 231 lbs., Colston gives Drew Brees
a big target in the red zone. |
|
Waiver
Wire - WR's
Gabriel has a chance to make a push for
a starting role now that Deion Branch has
been traded. Right now, the wideout pecking
order is in flux, especially after the team
trotted out the capable but hardly explosive
duo of Troy Brown and Reche Caldwell as
starters in Week 1. |
|
Waiver
Wire - WR's
Williams had six receptions for 47 yards
and caught a short touchdown in Sunday's
24-17 win over Dallas. Williams failed to
catch a touchdown pass last season so he
is already off to a quick start. Williams
actually started over Ernest Wilford on
Sunday, but Wilford was nearly as productive
with three catches for 58 yards. |
|
Waiver
Wire - WR's
Jenkins caught three passes for 77 yards
and a touchdown in Sunday's win over Carolina.
He hauled in a 34-yard touchdown strike
from Michael Vick in the second quarter
and is on the early track for improved
fantasy numbers this season.
