Fantasy Football Waiver Wire - Week 9
(Following Week 8's NFL Games)
This is our waiver wire pick-ups
column. The WagerOnFootball.com staff will scour
the free agent pools in fantasy land for the best
available talent every week. Availability, of course,
depends on the league. We’re using 12 team,
15 roster spot leagues as the median, but we’ll
look for roster candidates for leagues of all shapes
and sizes. Grab the following before NFL Week 9.

FANTASY FOOTBALL WAIVER WIRE
Brad Johnson
Waiver
Wire - QUARTERBACKS
Things have come
full circle for Johnson, who began his career
as a backup in Minnesota in '94 and who appears
ready to end it that way soon. He probably
would be fine for a short stretch in a revamped
ball-control Vikings offense, but Johnson's
fading arm strength and laggard legs are major
constraints. His fantasy days are over in
my opinion, but maybe not yours...
Tony Fisher
Waiver Wire - RUNNING BACKS
Fisher rushed for 51 yards and a TD in his
first game this season as the starting RB.
The Bengals entered the game with one of the
worst rush defenses so this performance isn't
very good. He'll continue to work as the starting
RB, but don't expect huge numbers.
Chris Perry
Perry used three carries and a team-high
six receptions to produce 43 total yards and
a touchdown on Sunday against the Packers.
Perry's role has been firmly established.
He'll get between 10 and 15 touches per game,
mostly through the air as a dumpoff valve
for Carson Palmer. He has 20 receptions for
113 yards and two touchdowns in the last three
games alone
Frank Gore
Gore ran for 40 yards on 10 carries during
Sunday's win against Tampa Bay. Gore continues
to spell starter Kevan Barlow with 5-10 carries
each week. It would not be much of a surprise
if Gore were to start receiving more and more
carries as the season went on despite Barlow's
recent strong play.
Ernest Wilford
Waiver
Wire - WIDE RECEIVERS
Head coach Jack Del Rio said on Monday that
Wilford has earned himself more playing time
in the Jaguars' offense after his break-out
165 yard preformance with a touchdown against
the Rams this past weekend, the team's official
site reports."He's going to play more.
Whether he's the starter or not is less relevant.
Byron (Leftwich) is comfortable throwing the
ball to him. We're looking for playmakers.
I think he's earned that," Del Rio said
of Wilford.
Courtney Roby
Roby caught seven passes for 83 yards with
a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Raiders.
Roby stepped up in the absence of Drew Bennett
and Brandon Jones and could be worth a roll
of the dice with the aforementioned duo no
lock to play next week.
Antonio Chatman
Chatman set a career high with eight catches
for 97 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bengals.
Chatman will continue to start as the number
two WR at least until Robert Ferguson returns,
which could be a month or more. Chatman won't
be a bad option if he's still available in
your league.
Braylon Edwards
I love it when a guy speaks up in the NFL.
Head coach Romeo Crennel has been working
with the rookie receiver on his blocking,
but said he needs help. Edwards, on the other
hand, did not think his blocking was an issue
and said he was ready to start. The suddenly
outspoken rookie also called for a change
at quarterback, with rookie Charlie Frye replacing
veteran Trent Dilfer. Edwards has acknowledged
he has good chemistry with Frye.
Muhsin Muhammad
Bears WR Muhsin Muhammad caught four passes
for 49 yards with a touchdown at Detroit in
Week 8. Muhammad could come out ahead again
when the Bears play at New Orleans (in Baton
Rouge) in Week 9.

FANTASY FOOTBALL WAIVER WIRE
Jerramy Stevens
Waiver
Wire - TIGHT ENDS
Jerramy Stevens recorded five receptions
for 60 yards in last Sunday's 13-10 win over
the Dallas Cowboys. Look for more of the same
from Stevens this week versus Arizona. Hasselbeck
looks his way at least 6-7 times per game.
Giants DST
Waiver
Wire - DST's
The Giants DST unit has been pretty good
this season in Fantasy play. Start them in
Week 9 in San Francisco against a horrible
offense that could be starting their fourth
string QB (Cody Pickett).
Rob Bironas
Waiver
Wire - Kickers
Bironas is a decent Fantasy option for Week
9 at Cleveland, as the Titans might be able
to score a few more points against a Browns
team which fell to the winless Texans in Week
8.
