This is our waiver wire pick-ups
column. The WagerOnFootball.com staff will scour
the free agent pools in fantasy land for the best
available talent every week. Availability, of course,
depends on the league. We’re using 12 team,
15 roster spot leagues as the median, but we’ll
look for roster candidates for leagues of all shapes
and sizes. Grab the following before NFL Week 4.

WEEK
3 NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL WAIVER WIRE
Koy Detmer
Waiver
Wire - QUARTERBACKS
McNabb owners
cover your buts. He's been injured pretty
badly, the team is not saying much, but you
can see it in his play. If I were you I'd
grab Donovans backup. Detmer is a valuable
NFL backup, especially now. He knows the scheme,
is technically sound and can manage the offense
adequately in a pinch.
Josh McCown
McCown will get the start on Sunday against
the 49ers in place of Kurt Warner who strained
his right groin against Seattle. Warner only
expects to miss one game with the injury.
However, a strong performance by McCown and
the Arizona offense could stir up a quarterback
controversy. McCown started 13 games for the
Cards last season including all six of the
team's victories.
Vinny Testaverde
Don't look now but we hear Vinnies coming
back to the Jets. Testaverde signed with the
Jets on Tuesday afternoon. The 41-year-old
quarterback should help fill the void left
by injuries to starter Chad Pennington and
backup Jay Fiedler. Pennington suffered a
torn rotator cuff in Sunday's game against
Jacksonville and is out for the season. Fiedler
also suffered a severe shoulder injury. He
provides the Jets with a better chance of
competing than unproven Brooks Bollinger.
Still, at age 41 it's best for fantasy owners
to take a wait and see attitude regarding
his effectiveness. Pennington owners need
to look elsewhere and do it immediately.
Ricky Williams
Waiver
Wire - RUNNING BACKS
Grab him now if you want him on your team.
We're still not 100% sold on Ronnie Brown
being the every down back, and if the Fins
want to trade Rasta at the end of the year,
they'll showcase his talents to get the most
back for him. He will debut from his brief
retirement in Week 5 due to his suspension
from the NFL. Williams is allowed to go to
team meetings, work out at the facility and
use team trainers, so he shouldn't fall too
far behind.
Ronnie Brown
Brown scored his first NFL touchdown Sunday
and became the first Miami rookie in six years
to rush for 100+ yards. Brown gained 132 yards
on 23 carries, including a 1-yard touchdown
run and a 58-yard scamper. A nice game for
the rookie, who appears to have solidified
his role in the Dolphins' offense, regardless
of what the team decides to do with Ricky
Williams when he returns.
Chris Brown
It was confirmed Monday that Travis Henry
will be suspended four games, effective immediately,
for violating the league's substance abuse
policy. Brown's fantasy value gets a boost
here as his owners -- for now at least --
won't have to worry about the prospect of
a time-share with Henry. Now their main concern
will be Brown staying away from injury.
Brandon Lloyd
Waiver Wire - WIDE RECEIVERS
After last weeks performance Lloyd is a hot
commodity. Lloyd would be a nice No. 2 or
a great third receiver on most NFL teams,
but expecting him to perform like a No. 1--and
do so with QB Tim Rattay behind center--is
just plain unreasonable.
Joey Galloway
Galloway caught five passes for 53 yards
and two touchdowns for Tampa Bay against Green
Bay on Sunday. Brian Griese targeted both
Galloway and Michael Clayton eight times apiece
in his 26 attempts on Sunday, as Galloway
continues to get chances in Jon Gruden's offense
this season. Both of Galloway's scores came
front short range, and appeared to be aided
considerably by awful coverage
Plaxico Burress
If he's still available in your league -
GRAB HIM NOW. Burress still is too dangerous
to be left alone for long against most cornerbacks
in single coverage. Since he plays on the
opposite site of Shockey this is going to
be a TON of the time. DID you see that Freak
play on Sunday night??? Plaxico should enjoy
a ton of single coverage from here on out.
Plus whats nice is if the Giants are coming
from behind like they most likely will in
most games, you'll see Manning chuckin it
to Plax all night. Burress has the tools and
the time to get the better of most CB's out
there.

FANTASY FOOTBALL WAIVER WIRE
Ernie Conwell
Waiver
Wire - TIGHT ENDS
Conwell caught three passes for 65 yards
with a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Vikings.
Conwell, who has obviously bounced back from
a concussion and a displaced jaw, may be worth
a look in deeper leagues.
Seattle
Waiver
Wire - DST's
Ok its still only Arizona but Seattle held
them to 266 Total Yards
Passing 176 yards, and 90 rushing yards. They
also limited them on 3rd Down Conversions
to 3 for 13. Not bad by any means. This is
a totally revamped defense that is really
doing a great job. They consistently get a
handfull of sacks, have the players to force
turnovers (have only 2 so far), and are off
the field a lot because of the Seattle Offense
sustaining long scoring drives. Peter Warrick
is returning punts, and Josh Scobey is the
kick returner. Washington and St. Louis are
next up. A good sleeper pick.
Neil Rackers
Waiver
Wire - Kickers
Rackers continues to be one of the only
consistent performers for the Cardinals as
he hit on all four field goal attempts against
the Seahawks. Of the four field goals Rackers
hit against Seattle, two were from 50+ yards
out.
