Fantasy Hot & Not - Following Week 9's NFL Games

FANTASY
FOOTBALL WHO'S HOT - AFTER WEEK 9 |
Reggie Brown WR PHI:
|
Week 10 Outlook: The rookie
had a breakout game last week- 94-receiving
yards and a touchdown- starting in place of
Terrell Owens (suspended). With TO O-U-T,
Brown remains in the starting lineup and deserves
fantasy attention.
|
Joe Jurevicius, WR - SEA: |
Week 10 Outlook: Seattle will
use a lot of motion and formation tricks to get
Jurevicius matched up as often as possible on
nickelback Ronald Bartell, who ironically is the
only Rams defensive back with the size and speed
to come close to matching up with Jurevicius. |
Larry Johnson RB - KC: |
Week 10 Outlook: With RB Priest
Holmes (head, shoulders) out for the season, Johnson
will be a popular starting choice this week and
in the future, particularly after his 155-yard,
two-TD performance last week. |
Brett Favre, QB - GB: |
Week 10 Outlook: Favre somehow
always seems to find a way to move Green Bay's
offense, even when his protection stinks (and
it does) and his arsenal appears empty (ditto).
That said, Favre makes his share of mistakes,
especially now that the players around him aren't
as capable of covering for him. |
Alge Crumpler, TE - ATL: |
Week 10 Outlook: Son of Carlester.
Because Atlanta has some explosiveness at receiver
and a good pass-catching back in RB Warrick Dunn,
SS Mark Roman won't get much help from his mates
against Crumpler. Roman has pretty impressive
cover skills for a strong safety, but he gives
away a big size advantage to Crumpler and doesn't
diagnose well. |
Joey Galloway, WR - TB: |
Week
10 Outlook: Washington CB Walt Harris
can't contain Galloway on his own, but it won't
be often that he'll have to. The Redskins usually
will roll a safety to Galloway's side, limiting
his downfield potential. |
Stephen Davis, RB - CAR: |
Week 10 Outlook: The specter
of WR Steve Smith streaking towards the endzone
is enough to force the Jets to keep a safety
in coverage. Against a Jets' front seven that
will wear down over the course of the game,
Davis should be able to grind out consistent
positive yardage. |

FANTASY
FOOTBALL WHO'S NOT HOT - FOLLOWING WEEK 9 |
Justin McCareins, WR- NYJ:
|
Week 10 Outlook: The Jets' passing
game will be under pressure against an aggressive
Carolina front four that should force Brooks Bollinger
into quick, short throws and McCareins' big play
potential will be effectively reigned in. |
Raiders DST
|
Week 10 Outlook: Oakland's size
along the front seven will help against interior
runner RB Mike Anderson and could make it tough
on Denver's smallish offensive line to open holes.
Still, the Raiders don't match up well with change-of-pace
RB Tatum Bell and are vulnerable to fatigue. |
Reggie Williams, WR Jaguars:
|
Week 10 Outlook: Williams has
been knocked out of his starting role by Ernest
Wilford and even converted quarterback, Matt Jones,
has jumped ahead of him on the depth chart. With
no catches over his past two games, Williams'
role in the offense is tenuous at best |
Chester Taylor, RB, BAL:
|
Week 10 Outlook: Taylor's stock
has plummeted after two consecutive dismal performances.
In two weeks, Taylor has managed only 18-yards
on 11-carries for a microscopic 1.6 ypc average.
With Jamal Lewis beginning to shake off the rust
of his prison hangover, Taylor's carries will
likely decrease. |
Brian Westbrook, RB, PHI:
|
Week 10 Outlook: Westbrook is
a running back in name only. With Andy Reid committed
to the passing game, Westbrook's main role is
as a receiver out of the backfield and he rarely
gets carries inside the red zone, a significant
problem for a fantasy back. |
Braylon Edwards, WR - CLE: |
Week 10 Outlook:
At this stage of the Browns' season it is about
time to see what they have in their young players.
Braylon Edwards is an outstanding talent warranted
of being the third player selected overall in
this past draft. The Browns will get him on the
field quite a bit and try to accelerate his maturation
process. |
Marshall Faulk, RB - ST.L: |
Week 10 Outlook:
In eight games this season, Faulk has only one
noteworthy performance (81 total yards, TD). He
no longer has game-breaking ability, and he won't
get enough touches to make a dent in fantasy play
unless one team takes a huge lead (unlikely) or
starter RB Steven Jackson gets hurt |
