Fantasy Football Week 1 Hot & Not
Team |
FANTASY
FOOTBALL WHO'S HOT |
Gus Frerotte – MIA QB
|
I’m not really sold on Gus Frerotte,
but his numbers from Week 1 coupled with his
opportunity as the Dolphins’ starting
QB are hard to ignore. Plus, the Dolphins
did man-handle the Broncos in Week 1
|
Trent Dilfer – CLE QB: |
Dilfer is no stud, however, I think its fair to
say he’s also a little underrated. I wouldn't
want Dilfer as my every-week starter, but his
Week 1 performance demonstrates that Dilfer may
warrant a roster spot |
Chester Taylor – BAL RB: |
Lewis owners in your league should have Taylor
on their roster; he should be viewed as a “must-have
handcuff.” So if you are that Lewis owner,
go get Taylor now!! |
Ladell Betts – WAS RB: |
Betts makes the most sense for two kinds of teams:
(1) those owning Clinton Portis; and (2) those
receiving individual points in the return game,
as Betts is also a kick off return specialist. |
Bobby Engram – SEA WR: |
If you are looking to add a #4 or #5 wide receiver
to your roster that will perform like a strong
#3, Engram is perfect. And if you get points for
receptions then you should be jumping on Engram
faster than Anna Nicole on a.....never mind. |

FOOTBALL WHO'S NOT HOT |
Washington Defense
|
Don't expect amazing stats from here on out. I've
downgraded this D. Now while they should be solid
enough to get you at least a 10pt Fantasy output
most weeks, after last week I'm just not sold.
After all those were the Bears. |
Derrick Blaylock – NYJ
RB:
|
Blaylock provides a nice change-of-pace option
for Herm Edwards. However, he doesn't have the
size to effectively run the ball against Miami's
front seven and will likely be limited to a third
down role as a receiver out of the backfield. |
Tatum Bell – DEN RB:
|
The spotlight is definitely on Bell, who failed to convert on three goal line runs after relieving Anderson last week against the Dolphins. Bell needs to be consistent if he expects to make an impact |
J.J. Arrington – ARI
RB:
|
The Cardinals' offensive line failed to open up
holes for Arrington last week and without clear
running lanes, he just isn't effective. Last weeks
stats - (5-yards, .6 ypc) |
Jason Hanson– DET K:
|
A hamstrung Hanson could spell doom for the Lions
Hanson is suffering from some fairly serious hamstring pains that could kill any chances of long field-goal tries for him this week. From short range--extra points and chip shots--Hanson should be fine |
