Fantasy Football Week 3 Hot & Not
Team |
FANTASY
FOOTBALL WHO'S HOT - AFTER WEEK 3 |
Steve Smith - CAR WR:
|
Week 4 Outlook: Good matchup. Bad matchup.
Any matchup. Start Smith. CB Al Harris is
Green Bay's best cover corner, and he loves
to play a physical brand of man-to-man. But
that strategy would get Harris barbecued by
Smith, whose quick feet and blazing speed
would get him off the line and a full stride
behind Harris in an eyeblink.
|
Joey Galloway– TB WR: |
Week 4 Outlook: Brian Griese targeted both Galloway
and Michael Clayton eight times apiece in his
26 attempts on Sunday, as Galloway continues to
get chances in Jon Gruden's offense this season.
Both of Galloway's scores came front short range |
Jeremy Shockey - NYG TE: |
Week 4 Outlook: It's about time he broke out with
a biggie SS Adam Archuleta is most comfortable
playing in the box, and St. Louis probably will
need his presence there to help contain RB Tiki
Barber and a New York run game that gets overlooked
help from a solid drive-blocking line. |
Keenan McCardell – SD
WR: |
Week 4 Outlook: With New England focusing its
efforts on RB LaDainian Tomlinson and TE Antonio
Gates, McCardell should draw a lot of single coverage
this week. Trouble is, CB Asante Samuel is one
of the league's better starting cornerbacks and
the Pats figure to put plenty of pressure on QB
Drew Brees. He's HOT, fantasy's 4th best WR so
far this year, but, start with caution. |
Brandon Lloyd - WR - 49ers |
Week 4 Outlook: Has proven scoring ability, if
not total package Evaluation : Lloyd showed
good wheels on his two TDs last week, but it
should be noted that he beat Dallas CB Anthony
Henry in man-to-man, two things that should
never go together. |
Drew Bledsoe - QB - Cowboys
|
Week 4 Outlook:
Facing a toothless pass rush, he should thrive
His mobility should be a moot point against
an Oakland defense that can't seem to muster
a pass rush. And with so many veteran targets
and a dangerous running game, Bledsoe will have
more than enough options and time to shred a
raw Raiders secondary and slow linebacker corps. |

FANTASY
FOOTBALL WHO'S NOT HOT |
Jamal Lewis, Ravens:
|
That last game of his, with 10 rushes for 9 yards
-- against the Titans, no less -- still resonates
in my mind, and makes it hard for me to say "play
him this week." |
Steven Jackson, Rams:
|
I think this is a key game for this sophomore
back, because Marshall Faulk showed last week
he can be productive in spurts. Jackson's drawback
isn't just that he seems to get hurt a lot. He's
not quick to the holes either. |
Michael Clayton, Bucs:
|
His team is rocking, but Clayton is averaging
only five catches per, is 30th in the league in
yards and has nary a touchdown scored. It might
be time to sit Clayton (do not cut him) and play
the matchup game with guys |
David Akers– PHI K:
|
Akers will sit out this week's game at Kansas
City and may not kick again until after the bye
week at the earliest. Head coach Andy Reid would
not put a timetable on Akers' return. But it is
very safe to assume he won't kick Oct. 9 against
Dallas |
Nate Burleson – MIN
WR:
|
With the Vikings on bye next week, the team won't
take any chances with Burleson and will let the
wideout rest for three full weeks. We'll update
you when Burleson's condition begins to improve. |
J.P. Losman – BUF QB:
|
With the Saints playing
eight men in the box, the Bills will take some
shots deep downfield, probably to Evans. This
is a good situation for Evans and Losman has a
big arm, but trusting Losman, who gets antsy in
the pocket, to get Evans the ball in this situation
is a concern. |
