Fantasy Hot & Not - Following Week 10's NFL Games

FANTASY
FOOTBALL WHO'S HOT - AFTER WEEK 10 |
Samkon Gado RB GB:
|
Week 11 Outlook: Gado is
coming off a nice performance last week (108
total yards, three TDs), but his size puts
him at risk of wearing down and the versatility
of Minnesota's personnel on the line will
make the Vikings a tougher matchup than Atlanta
for Green Bay's offensive line.
|
Shaun Alexander, RB
- SEA: |
Week 11 Outlook: San Francisco's
run defense is dying a slow death, as injuries
and a lack of depth take their toll. The 49ers
have adjusted their 3-4 scheme to, essentially,
a 5-3 on rushing downs. But they lack ideal personnel
up front, particularly at nose tackle, where Seattle
C Robbie Tobeck can handle NT Anthony Weaver alone. |
Greg Jones RB - JAX: |
Week
11 Outlook: Greg Jones ran for his first
100-yard game of his career last week and will
clearly carry the load if Taylor cannot play this
week. Jacksonville had great success running out
of single back sets, so expect that trend to continue. |
Clinton Portis, RB
- WAS: |
Week
11 Outlook: The presence of Oakland NT
Ted Washington always makes yards between the
tackles a difficult proposition for opposing backs.
But Washington's offensive line play has steadily
improved and Clinton "Dollar Bill"
Portis is averaging 4.5-yards per carry |
Michael Vick, QB - ATL: |
Week 11 Outlook: He was hot last
week, and Vick clearly is a game-changing player
who can beat a defense in a variety of ways, but
he generally is just an average fantasy option
and specifically doesn't match up well this week. |
Matt Jones, WR - JAX: |
Week
11 Outlook: This kid is special. Matt
Jones is like no other weapon in the NFL today.
He has tight end size, home run speed and a
deceptive stride that defensive backs judge
very poorly. He is a red zone weapon and a deep
threat. The problem is that he has only been
a wide receiver for about half an NFL season
and is extremely raw. |
Chad Johnson, WR -
CIN: |
Week 11
Outlook: Johnson generally isn't as
effective against zone coverage as man-to-man,
and he rarely will play a down when the cornerback
covering him doesn't have deep safety help. |
Larry Fitzgerald, WR
- ARI: |
Week 11 Outlook:
Regardless of which cornerback Larry Fitzgerald
draws, he has a clear advantage. Fitzgerald is
becoming one of the top wide receivers in the
league and has really stepped up in 2005 despite
poor quarterback play and little or no rushing
attack. |

FANTASY
FOOTBALL WHO'S NOT HOT - FOLLOWING WEEK 10 |
Kerry Collins, QB
- OAK:
|
Week 11 Outlook: Though Collins'
decision-making remains suspect, he should be
able to make enough downfield throws to warrant
starter consideration, against Washington's beat
up secondary. |
Eli Manning, QB -
NYG
|
Week
11 Outlook: After a dismal performance
last week against the Vikings, Manning should
rebound against a Philadelphia secondary that
is struggling to handle the single coverage responsibilities
created by the team's frequent blitzes. |
Jeff Garcia, QB -
DET
|
Week
11 Outlook: Garcia will have some matchup
advantages against Dallas, but who knows if he'll
get to take advantage of them? A leg injury that
kept him out of action last week threatens his
availability for the Cowboys game and makes him
a risk to finish, even if he starts. |
Julius Jones, RB,
DAL:
|
Week 11 Outlook: Jones didn't
accomplish much last week (eight carries, 16 yards)
in his first game back from an ankle injury, but
getting back on the field at least was a start.
He should be even healthier this week |
Deshaun Foster, RB
- CAR:
|
Week
11 Outlook: Foster is more explosive
than starter RB Stephen Davis, but his production
has been inconsistent--and not only because his
touches haven't always been steady. He had a season-high
16 carries but ran for only 23 yards two weeks
ago |
Cadillac Williams RB
- TB: |
Week
11 Outlook: After rushing for only 20
yards on 10 carries last week against Washington,
Williams clearly isn't the same producer he was
in Tampa Bay's first three games. Still, the Buccaneers
will have to run a high percentage of the time
to ease the pressure on young QB Chris Simms. |
Marcell Shipp, RB -
ARI: |
Week 11 Outlook:
Marcell Shipp was more than a little off last
week as he missed practice time due to the death
of his father, which opened the door a bit further
for JJ Arrington. Shipp is only averaging a measly
2.4 yards per carry. |
Marc Clayton WR - BAL: |
Week
11 Outlook: Mark Clayton still has much
to learn to be a force in the NFL and the Ravens'
quarterback mess has not helped the rookie's maturation
at all. His talents are obvious, but this is such
a poor passing team |
Brandon Lloyd, WR -
SF: |
Week
11 Outlook: Though it hardly is all his
fault, Lloyd continues to underwhelm. He has battled
injuries, failed to adjust to an admittedly bad
quarterback situation and last week had a fairly
public tantrum after seemingly giving less than
his best effort on a ball in traffic that could
have gone for a score. |
PATRIOTS DST |
Week 11 Outlook:
Even with improved play in their front seven,
the Patriots remain a poor fantasy defense because
of the glaring lack of production from their secondary.
Though the mere mention of Aaron Brooks' name
is usually enough to earn a defense some fantasy
points |
Kris Brown, K - HOU: |
Week
11 Outlook: The Chiefs' secondary is
vulnerable to big plays, but that might only translate
to extra points for Brown, not field goals. In
any case, the Texans' offense is in such disarray
that no owner should count on Brown |
