Power Rankings.
Wager
On Football's 2006 NFL Power Rankings |
This week's NFL Power rankings were determined
by a poll of WageronFootball staff -- writers
Q. Smyth, D. Bachman, and M. Pool. |
The Indianapolis Colts were beaten by the Tennessee
Titans on the weekend, while the Chicago Bears
have a starting quarterback that went 6-of-19
for 34 yards passing (and three interceptions)
last time out. Therefore your new No. 1 team in
the NFL Power Rankings are the San Diego Chargers.
Of course, it's not like the Chargers are flawless
either - they only beat the Buffalo Bills by three
points on Sunday. However, LaDainian Tomlinson
continues to put up huge numbers (178 yards and
two more TDs vs. Buffalo), and the Chargers are
now tied for the league's top mark.
San Diego's ascension pushed the Colts down
to No. 2 on the list this week, while the Bears
move up the New England Patriots, who are coming
off a win over the Detroit Lions, Tony Romo
and his Dallas Cowboys, and the Chicago Bears
round out the top 5. The Baltimore Ravens, Seattle
Seahawks, the New Orleans Saints, the Cincinnati
Bengals, and the Jacksonville Jaguars come in
this week in the Top 10.
Here is the Week 14 edition of the NFL Power
Rankings.

Not only are they tied for
the best record in the NFL, but they're
now three games up in the AFC West division. |
2 |
Peyton
Manning was an efficient 21-of-28 for 351
yards against Tennessee, but they blew a
fourth-quarter lead. |
3 |
Tony Romo threw for zero
touchdowns and two interceptions on Sunday,
but Martin Gramatica made the big kick. |
4 |
The Bears
seem to want to stick with Grossman as their
starter, but will he eventually cost them
a playoff game? |
5 |
Needed to score 15 points
in the fourth quarter on Sunday to defeat
the lowly Lions. Corey Dillon ran for three
TDs. |
6 |
Thursday
night football didn't treat the Ravens too
well - they didn't score until the fourth
in a loss to the Bengals. |
7 |
Moved two games up on the
Panthers in the NFC South division race
with their win over the 49ers on the weekend. |

Hanging around in the AFC
playoff race after trouncing the Packers
on Sunday. Cedric Houston ran for two scores. |
12 |
Trent
Green's four touchdown passes weren't enough
on the weekend as the Chiefs were beaten
by Cleveland. |
13 |
Jay Cutler got the start,
but Denver didn't get the win; the rookie
didn't accomplish much versus the Seahawks. |
14 |
Not much
passing for Michael Vick on Sunday (8-of-16
for 122 yards), but he threw for two TDs
vs. Washington. |
15 |
Eli Manning outplayed Romo
in their matchup on the weekend, but the
Giants still were tagged with another loss. |
16 |
Not spectacular
numbers for Vince Young Sunday, but he did
manage to guide the Titans past the mighty
Colts. |
17 |
Maybe they're not finished
without Donovan McNabb. Jeff Garcia threw
three TD passes in a win over Carolina. |
18 |
Jake Delhomme
also tossed three TD strikes in the Monday
night game, but he was picked off twice
in the loss. |

At least they had no trouble
getting past Tampa Bay on the weekend. Next
play the rival Browns Thursday night. |

lost two straight after seemingly picking
up some momentum. Frank Gore ran for just
40 yards Sunday. |
23 |
Fell to 5-7 on Sunday afternoon
by losing to the Cardinals. Marc Bulger
was picked off three times in that defeat. |
24 |
Grossman
was bad against the Vikings, but Brad Johnson
stunk too - 11-of-26 for 73 yards, with
four interceptions. |
25 |
Ladell Betts ran for 155
yards, and Santana Moss picked up 123 receiving
yards, but the 'Skins were still beaten. |
26 |
They did
get the win against the Chiefs on Sunday,
but starting QB Charlie Frye left the game
with a wrist injury. |
27 |
Booted a barrage a field
goals to beat Oakland - Kris Brown kicked
three in the fourth quarter for the victory. |

the Jets on Sunday. Play in San Francisco
this weekend. |

a quarterback change? Jon Kitna threw for
314 yards against the Pats, but was picked
off three times too. |
