Each week during the heart
of the NFL season, and once or twice during
the NFL Preseason, we'll gather the troops around
the roundtable and hash out the NFL Power rankings.
We check out the stats, looks at the records,
and, most importantly, we take a close, close
look at the heart of each team. We encourage
you to come back each week and see how the NFL
Power Rankings have changed. NFL Power Rankings
will be updated by Wednesday every week. Be
sure to visit our home page for more articles
and NFL analysis. Its with this knowledge that
we can then deliver to you The
NFL Power Rankings!
With the NFL week 12 behind
us, it's time to check in with the Week 13 NFL
Power Rankings.

On Football's 2006 NFL Power Rankings |
This week's NFL Power rankings were determined
by a poll of WageronFootball staff -- writers
Q. Smyth, D. Bachman, and M. Pool. |
Chicago Bears fans aren't going to like this week's
edition of the NFL Power Rankings. The Bears were
handled 17-13 on the road by the New England Patriots
on the weekend, and as a result they've fallen
to No. 5 in the Week 13 edition of the list. Too
harsh for a team that's currently dominating their
conference standings? Well, we had no choice but
to move the Pats ahead of them after the game,
and the Colts, Chargers, and Ravens did nothing
to deserve a drop, so No. 5 is where Chicago landed.
Plus, it's hard to be confident about a team led
by Rex Grossman.
So the Indianapolis Colts regain the top spot
in the rankings this week, with the Chargers,
Ravens, and Patriots taking up the next three
spots in an AFC-dominated Top 4. NFC squads
Chicago and Dallas then come in at No. 5. The
Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle
Seahawks, Denver Broncos, and New Orleans Saints
make up the rest of the current Top 10. Falling
out of the Top 10 this week are the Carolina
Panthers and the Jacksonville Jaguars, two teams
that were defeated by inferior opponents in
Week 13 and are now barely above the .500 mark.
Here is the Week 13 edition of the NFL Power
Rankings.

Didn't even need Peyton
Manning to beat the Eagles - Joseph Addai
ran for an incredible 171 yards and four
TDs. |
2 |
Needed
to score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter
to beat the Raiders. Came close to tumbling
down the list. |
3 |
Steve McNair only threw
for 140 yards Sunday, but he still managed
to lead his team to an impressive 9-2 mark. |
4 |
The talk
was all about Chicago's defense, but the
Patriots' defense had three interceptions
in their big victory. |
5 |
It's doubtful Bears fans
would protest Grossman getting benched,
but does Chicago have a better QB option? |
6 |
Tony Romo
did it again last week, going 22-of-29 for
306 yards passing, with five touchdown strikes
in the win. |
7 |
Trent Green only threw for
161 yards in their win over Denver, but
Larry Johnson ran for 157 yards and a score. |
8 |
Matt Hasselbeck
was picked off three times on Monday night,
but at least he threw three TD passes in
the win. |
9 |
Will we see Jake Plummer
start another NFL game? Weak performance
against the Chiefs has got him demoted. |
10 |
Flexed
some muscle in the division by pounding
the Falcons on the road. Enjoyed seeing
the Panthers lose as well. |
11 |
Weren't challenged by the
state-rival Browns last week, scoring in
every quarter en route to a 30-0 road victory. |
12 |
Gave up
a late touchdown to take the loss against
the Redskins. Jake Delhomme threw for 168
yards, two INTs. |
13 |
Does Jacksonville even want
to make the playoffs this year, or would
they rather start the offseason early? |
14 |
Stayed
above the .500 mark by beating the Texans
at Giants Stadium last week, despite the
lack of a run game. |
15 |
Were up 21-0 on the Titans
going into the fourth quarter, but allowed
24 points in the frame in a terrible defeat. |
16 |
The Dolphins
are getting their fans optimistic late in
the season - again. Dropped the Lions 27-10
on the road. |
17 |
Still below the .500 mark,
but taking care of the 49ers was important.
Need to embark on a decent win streak. |
18 |
Michael
Vick ran for 166 yards against the Saints,
but he completed just nine passes for 84
yards in the defeat. |
19 |
Needed a late FG to secure
a win over the Jaguars on Sunday, but they
managed to improve their mark to 5-6. |
20 |
Lost to
the Rams Sunday, and Frank Gore suffered
an ankle injury. However, he'll be back
on the field this week. |
21 |
Brad Johnson went 27-of-41
for 271 yards and three touchdowns on the
weekend as they got past the Cards. |
22 |
Jeff Garcia
was respectable as the starter - 19-of-23
for 140 yards, two TDs - but they were still
trounced by Indy. |
23 |
Vince Young threw two touchdown
passes and ran for a score in their fourth-quarter
comeback versus the Giants. |
24 |
The Steelers'
season hit a low point on Sunday afternoon,
as they were blanked 27-0 by the division-rival
Ravens. |
25 |
Jason Campbell went 11-of-23
for 118 yards in their win over Carolina,
but at least he threw a couple of TD passes. |
26 |
It wasn't
a great Monday night outing for Brett Favre,
as he was intercepted three times by the
Seahawks defense. |
27 |
David Carr went 39-of-54
for 321 yards against the Jets, but somehow
they only scored 11 points in the defeat. |
28 |
Defeated
38-10 by Romo and the 'Boys last week. Bruce
Gradkowski went 10-of-20 for 120 yards and
two INTs. |
29 |
Charlie Frye is doing nothing
to prove he's a capable NFL starter - threw
for 186 yards and four INTs last week. |
30 |
Blew a
lead versus the Chargers, and didn't have
the horses to come back. Aaron Brooks was
picked off twice. |
31 |
Matt Leinart threw for 405
yards last week, but he did have 51 pass
attempts. The Cardinals, though, still lost. |
32 |
The Lions'
rushing leader in their Week 12 loss to
the Dolphins? Arlen Harris, who had 15 yards
on eight carries. |
