On Football's 2006 NFL Power Rankings |
This week's NFL Power rankings were determined
by a poll of WageronFootball staff -- writers
Q. Smyth, D. Bachman, and M. Pool. |
The San Diego Chargers surged in the fourth quarter
on Sunday to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals, and
as a result they find themselves in the Top 5
of the NFL Power Rankings this week. San Diego
was down 21-0 to the Bengals after one quarter
of play on the weekend, but they scored three
touchdowns in each of the third and fourth quarters
en route to a 49-41 victory. LaDainian Tomlinson
ran for 104 yards and scored four touchdowns in
that victory, while Philip Rivers went 24-of-36
for 337 yards and three touchdowns to help improve
the Chargers to 7-2 on the season.
And it also improved San Diego to No. 3 in
this week's edition of the Power Rankings. The
Chargers now trail just the Indianapolis Colts,
and Chicago Bears on the list, while the Baltimore
Ravens round out the current Top 5. The New
England Patriots dropped a few spots after losing
to the division-rival New York Jets. The Seattle
Seahawks moved up a few spots to No. 7 by getting
past the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, while the
New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, and Dallas
Cowboys take up the final three list positions
as we head into Week 11 of the season.
Here is the Week 11 edition of the NFL Power
Rankings.

Another week, another win
for the Colts, but their 17-16 victory over
the Bills on the weekend was a little close.
2 |
Their
offense kicked into high gear in the second
half against the Giants, and the long kick
return really helped. |
3 |
Probably don't want to have
to score 42 points in the second half to
win games, but it worked for them last week.
4 |
Losing
to the Raiders would've hurt. Good thing
it's pretty hard for any team to lose to
the Raiders this season.
5 |
Steve McNair went 29-of-47
for 373 yards and three TDs (and two INTs)
in their comeback win over Tennessee.
6 |
The AFC
East division doesn't look like a cakewalk
any longer, thanks to the Patriots falling
short against the Jets.
7 |
It took a field goal in
the last minute of play to carry them over
the Rams, but it gave them a cushion in
the division.
8 |
Eli Manning
had a rough outing against the Bears: 14-of-32
for 121 yards passing, with zero TDs and
two INTs.
9 |
Fell 38-31 on the road to
the Steelers on Sunday, and now they're
just a game up on the Panthers in the division.
10 |
Terrell
Owens had five catches for 96 yards and
a touchdown on Sunday as they handily defeated
the Cardinals.
11 |
Got back above the .500
mark with a victory over the Redskins, although
Donovan McNabb went just 12-for-26.
12 |
Needed
to beat the Bucs on Monday night, and they
got the job done. Jake Delhomme tossed two
TD passes.
13 |
Damon Huard went just 15-of-38
for 201 yards in their loss to the Dolphins.
Trent Green could be back in QB mix.
14 |
Are now
only one game back of the Pats in the AFC
East, but they have to face the Bears on
Sunday afternoon.
15 |
Fell to 5-4 after losing
to the Browns on the weekend. Michael Vick
went just 16-of-40 for 197 yards and two
INTs.
16 |
Not only
did they lose to the Texans on the weekend,
but they needed a fourth-quarter TD to make
the game close.
17 |
Were looking good early
on Sunday, with three touchdowns in the
first quarter, but then everything went
to pot.
18 |
Failed
on a two-point conversion attempt in the
fourth quarter against Seattle, and then
lost the game by two points.
19 |
It might be too late for
the Steelers to make a move this season,
but they looked better against New Orleans.
20 |
Another
strong outing for Brett Favre on the weekend,
as he went 24-of-42 for 347 yards and two
touchdowns.
21 |
Almost blew their game against
the Chiefs, but held on for the victory.
Only three more wins to get back to .500.
22 |
Inched
closer to the .500 mark with a 19-13 win
over the Lions on Sunday. Frank Gore ran
for 159 yards and a TD.
23 |
Billy McMullen scored two
touchdowns for them on Sunday, but losing
to the Packers dropped them below .500.
24 |
Went up
14-0 on the Falcons early on Sunday, then
held on for a 17-13 victory. Charlie Frye
threw for 165 yards.
25 |
How bad was Mark Brunell
on the weekend? Well, it's quite possible
that he won't start another game this season.
26 |
The Texans'
offense was anything but impressive against
the Jaguars, but they still managed to get
win No. 3.
27 |
Almost knocked off the Colts
on the weekend, even though J.P. Losman
threw for just 83 yards in the whole game.
28 |
It doesn't
look like Bruce Gradkowski is going to lead
them to the playoffs. Intercepted twice
versus the Panthers.
29 |
Rushed for three touchdowns
in the first half against the Ravens, but
their defense couldn't hold on for the win.
30 |
Managed
to score only one touchdown against the
49ers Sunday. Jon Kitna went 19-of-30 for
202 yards in the loss.
31 |
Andrew Walter could find
himself on the bench Sunday, but it probably
won't make much difference for the offense.
32 |
Could
they pick up their second win of the season
this weekend? There's a good chance, with
the Lions in town.
