If you are in need
of a HOT fantasy football player
these Top Hot players for the week should help
you out if they're in your lineup. If you need
to dump a lame duck on your team, these NOTS
should be them. Fantasy Football always favors
the prepared mind. The more research you do,
and the more HOT players you
have to choose from on your team, the better
your odds are of winning your fantasy football
league outright this year.

WEEK 2 FANTASY FOOTBALL HOT & NOT
PLAYERS |
1. Mark Bulger |
HOT
QUARTERBACKS
Bulger did
enough to win and unlike his counterpart
Jake Plummer, he did not throw an interception.
TD passes should be forthcoming, as this
week's opponent, the 49ers, looks like
a good matchup for Bulger. |
|
McNabb only rushed for seven yards in
the contest but completed over 68 percent
of his passes (24-for-35) and looked extremely
sharp. McNabb appears poised to return
to his previous status as one of the elite
quarterbacks in the league. This week
his Eagles play the Giants. |
|
Warner had a big day in Sunday's win over
San Francisco, going 23-of-37 for 301 yards
with three touchdowns. Warner spread the
ball around inside the red zone, throwing
a short touchdown pass to three different
receivers. Warner focused on Larry Fitzgerald
between the 20's, completing 9-of-14 attempts
for 133 yards. The only negative for Warner
on Sunday was that he had three fumbles.
This week he plays the Seahawks in Seattle,
they'll be behind, he'll be throwing. |
|
HOT
RUNNING BACKS
Tomlinson's heavy workload on Monday night
at Oakland seemed to contradict all of
the preseason talk about using him less
in an effort to preserve him for the end
of the season, the San Diego Union-Tribune
reports. This week in their home opener
the Chargers taken on the visiting Tennessee
Titans. Expect more of the same from LT. |
2. Steven Jackson |
Jackson's owners would no doubt have liked
him to record a TD last week vs the Broncos,
but on the plus side, Tony Fisher was the
only other Rams' back to record a carry,
and he had just three. Last season, Jackson
didn't see 20 or more carries until his
seventh game. Expect more of the same this
week vs the 49ers. |
3. Rudi Johnson |
Johnson has a history of big games against
the Browns, this week's opponent, averaging
27 carries for 165 yards per game the
last three times he's faced Cleveland.
Johnson showed that he is ready to be
a workhorse this season after dominating
the opener against the Chiefs (28 carries,
96 yards and a touchdown)
|
|
HOT
WIDE RECEIVERS
Despite a couple drops last Sunday I think
Fitzgerald can sort this problem out soon,
it's a sign that he can do better, and not
a sign that he will lose touches. He has
a reputation as a top-flight receiver, so
we'll expect him to produce even more solid
numbers this week vs the Seahawk DB's Trufant
and Herndon. |
|
Ward (hamstring) will be listed as probable
for Week 2, coach Bill Cowher said on Tuesday.
Ward played well in Week 1 despite not being
100 percent. Physically, he should fare
at least as well in Week 2 vs the Jaguars.
If you need TD's in your league watch out
for him in the red zone. |
|
HOT
TIGHT END
A huge week 1 game for TG saw him land
10 catches vs the Bengals. While Gonzalez
remained active in Week 1's game against
the Bengals after Green's injury, it's
hard to expect much with Damon Huard under
center on the road against the Broncos.
Don't sit Gonzalez, just temper expectations. |
4. Chargers Defense/Special Teams |
HOT
DEFENSE
San Diego hosts Tennessee this week, and
its going to take everything the Tennessee
Offensive line has to keep the front 7
of San Diego in check. Shawn Merriman
is flat out a stud, and could be the defensive
MVP by the end of the year.

WEEK 2 FANTASY FOOTBALL HOT & NOT
PLAYERS |
1. Chris Simms |
NOT
QUARTERBACKS
While the
health of Simms' offensive line will be
an issue this week against Atlanta as
well, he had some productive games last
year playing behind the same line, and
he has more healthy wideouts than he had
at his disposal last season. Simms has
the potential to deliver a good performance
against the Falcons, if he gives himself
the chance. |
|
Brooks suffered a bruised knee on Monday
night, most likely during one of the seven
times he was sacked by the Chargers. It
appears that Brooks will start Sunday's
game against Baltimore and hopefully -
for both his health and production - Oakland
will employ some shorter routes and three-step
drops so that Brooks can actually get
rid of the ball. |
|
Plummer had a terrible opener for the Broncos,
completing just 13 of 26 passes for 138
yards, while throwing three interceptions
and fumbling once. The Broncos offensive
line struggled to protect him at times,
but Plummer did make some poor decisions
as well. Which Jake shows up this week at
home vs the KC Chiefs? |
|
NOT
RUNNING BACKS
Williams was held out of the fourth quarter
of last week's game due to back spasms.
The Cadillac practiced without apparent
limitation with the Bucs on Wednesday,
and Gruden said afterwards "I can
say (Williams) is getting better. He's
not, I don't think, 100 percent, but knowing
him he'll find a way to get through it.
But he is making progress. I know he's
a first round pick, but, if you better
options, play them this week at RB. |
2. DeShaun Foster |
The Panthers gained just 65 yards on the
ground against a revamped Falcons' defense.
Foster also caught four passes for 20 yards,
while backup DeAngelo Williams had just
one touch on offense (one reception for
eight yards). I expect better things from
Foster, but there are injuries to the Panthers
O-line which may slow down his production. |
3. Chris Brown |
A couple things to point out here, the
Chargers defense allowed Lamont Jordan
to rush for only 20 yards last week, plus
as usual Brown has an early season injury
(turf toe), he says its ok, but you know
Chris?! With Henry likely to dominate
the goal line carries, Brown doesn't warrant
a start.
|
|
NOT
WIDE RECEIVERS
Williams's confidence hasn't been shaken
by the tame opener, because he's already
guaranteed a win for the Lions over Chicago
in Week 2. It will be interesting to see
what the outstanding Bears defense has to
say about that Sunday. |
|
While it is far too early to panic about
Horn's fantasy production, it is worth noting
that Brees completed more passes to both
Marques Colston and Devery Henderson, the
two receivers behind Horn on the depth chart.
Horn is still the best fantasy option at
receiver on the Saints, but it appears that
Brees will target other wideouts, as well
as running back Reggie Bush, |
|
NOT
TIGHT END
Cooley caught two passes for negative
three yards on Monday night. He made one
catch for six yards and another for negative
nine yards. The Redskins' offense has looked
awful ever since training camp began.
Cooley's Week 1 numbers are no exception.
|
4. Packers Defense/Special Teams |
NOT
DEFENSE
Green Bay has New Orleans coming to town,
and if they roll over and play dead like
they did last week hosting the Bears "not
so good" offense, the Saints will
be marching right out of Title town with
a W. AJ Hawk, Woodson, and the Green Bay
Secondary have got to pick their games
up to keep Reggie Bush in check.
