fantasy FOOTBALL - Week 15 hot & not players
Hot & Not Following Week
14's NFL Games...
If you are in need
of a HOT fantasy football player
these Top Hot players for the week should help
you out if they're in your lineup. If you need
to dump a lame duck on your team, these NOTS
should be them. Fantasy Football always favors
the prepared mind. The more research you do,
and the more HOT players you
have to choose from on your team, the better
your odds are of winning your fantasy football
league outright this year. We also try in this
column to bring you the "fringe" players
who you might be able to plug into your lineups,
or of course drop from your squad.

WEEK 15 FANTASY FOOTBALL HOT & NOT
PLAYERS |
1. Jeff Garcia |
HOT
QUARTERBACKS
Garcia has
been outstanding since replacing starter
QB Donovan McNabb and there's little reason
to expect an inconsistent New York defense
to slow him down. Garcia has shown solid
decision-making in the pocket and the
Giants' toothless pass rush will be hard-pressed
to throw off his rhythm in the passing
game. |
|
Though evolving into one of the league's
most dynamic players, Young still isn't
a safe fantasy play. He has given the
Titans a new sense of direction and helped
lead them to four wins in a row. This
is a far different Titans team than the
one that lost to the Jaguars 37-7 in Week
9, but that does not mean Young will be
a good start. |
|
HOT
RUNNING BACKS
Betts has turned into the Redskins' best
and most consistent late-season weapon.
With three consecutive 100-yard games,
Betts has been one of the hottest running
backs of late and is virtually a must-start
this week against the league's 24th-ranked
run defense that is allowing 131.8 rushing
yards a game. |
|
With starter RB Chester Taylor (ribs)
expected back in the lineup after missing
last week's game, Pinner will return to
his backup role. While he should find
success against a terrible New York run
defense, Pinner gets few too carries with
Taylor in the lineup to be a fantasy factor |
3. Sammy Morris |
Morris is a solid fantasy option this
week against a terrible Buffalo run defense.
With starter RB Ronnie Brown (hand) out
again, Morris will see the majority of
the team's carries and should have little
problem shredding a Bills front seven
surrendering 4.8 yards per carry. |
4. Ron Dayne |
Dayne appears to have cemented his position
as Houston's top back but his status will
do little to help him against an outstanding
New England run defense. The Patriots
are holding opponents to just 3.5 yards
per carry and Houston's inconsistent offensive
line will have major problems clearing
space for Dayne against the Patriots'
dominant defensive front.
|
|
Houston has no chance for fantasy success
against one of the NFL's most dominant run
defenses. Over the team's past four games,
the Vikings have held opponents to an unbelievable
1.7 yards per carry; Houston is flat-out
not good enough for fantasy owners to expect
him to buck a season-long trend and produce
anything fantasy-worthy against Minnesota. |
|
HOT
WIDE RECEIVERS
Booker has been outstanding over the
past three weeks -- 279 receiving yards
and four touchdowns -- and should have
little problem working free against a
mistake-prone Buffalo secondary. While
Miami will certainly emphasize the run
against a porous Bills front seven, Nick
Saban will also allow QB Joey Harrington
to attack a Buffalo pass defense. |
|
With RB Kevin Jones (foot) out of action,
Furrey should see a significant boost to
his role in the offense. The Green Bay pass
defense is among the very worst in the NFL
and Furrey should have no problem generating
starter-worthy fantasy stats in a one dimensional,
pass-heavy Detroit offense.
|
|
Hackett quietly has become Seattle's go-to
downfield receiver and a top pass-catching
option in the red zone. His size is what
sets him apart from the rest of the Seahawks,
but he also is running better routes and
has become a player QB Matt Hasselbeck
can count on. Last night he had 8 catches
for 87 yards.
|
|
HOT
TIGHT ENDS
Scheffler finally has a breakthrough
game but he does not go straight to the
top of tight end starters. The Broncos
hope Scheffler and QB Jay Cutler are a
dynamic duo for the long term, and Scheffler
finally came through with two TDs last
week. But he still has only 10 catches
on the season and has not been much of
a factor in any other game. |
|
HOT DEFENSES
The Dolphins' outstanding run defense
will leave the Bills with little choice
but to take their chances with the erratic
QB J.P. Losman, a situation tailormade
for Miami's aggressive front seven. Buffalo's
raw offensive line has little chance of
stopping a Dolphins pass rush that has
dominated all comers in recent weeks.

WEEK 15 FANTASY FOOTBALL HOT & NOT
PLAYERS |
1. Jake Delhomme |
NOT
QUARTERBACKS
A sore thumb
is expected to keep Delhomme out for the
second consecutive game. Chris Weinke
will fill in and after Weinke's struggles
last game, he is not a great option this
week. |
|
A week after saving his job, Grossman has
a matchup that could help him tighten his
grip on the starting role. Tampa Bay's cover
2 scheme relies on front-four pressure and
discipline and communication in the secondary,
all of which the Bucs have had in short
supply this season. Chicago will cast its
lot in the run game this week |
|
NOT
RUNNING BACKS
As the backup Bell, Mike Bell will not be
enough of a factor to consider starting.
He has totaled just 14 carries in two games
since Tatum Bell returned from his toe injuries
and will not see many more carries this
week. The Broncos should have success running
-- and will try to establish the ground
game to keep pressure off rookie QB Jay
Cutler |
|
Lundy appears to be stuck firmly behind
RB Ron Dayne on the depth chart and is
unlikely to do anything for fantasy owners
against a solid New England run defense.
While Lundy is likely to still be involved
in the Houston offense, he gets far too
many touches to be considered fantasy-worthy. |
3. Laurence Maroney |
Maroney is expected to return to the lineup
after missing last week's game with a back
injury and should get right back into the
flow against a dismal Houston run defense
surrendering 4.4 yards per carry. With the
New England passing game struggling with
its consistency, Bill Belichick will turn
to the team's ground game. |
4. Anthony Thomas |
With McGahee in the lineup, Thomas will
see just a handful of carries, far too
few to make an impact against such a tough
front seven. If McGahee is unexpectedly
ruled out of action late in the week,
Thomas would be a borderline flex option.
|
|
NOT WIDE
RECEIVERS
Jennings has been hampered by a lingering
ankle injury in recent weeks but the rookie
receiver should shake off the rust against
a Detroit secondary that is among the very
worst in the NFL. QB Brett Favre will have
plenty of time in the pocket, thanks to
a toothless Detroit pass rush. |
|
An ankle injury might finally put Moss,
and all fantasy owners, out of their misery.
Moss is in the midst of the worst season
of his career and had to leave last week's
game against the Bengals early because of
an ankle injury. He easily could miss this
week's game, which takes any doubt out of
your decision on Moss. |
|
Williams has not had a significant game
in about nine weeks and should not be
one of your serious choices at wide receiver.
Williams has gone in a shell after a big
start to the season and has had more than
16 yards only twice in his last eight
games. |
|
NOT
TIGHT END
Clark (knee) has been ruled out of Monday
night's game against Cincinnati. This
isn't a surprise. Fantasy owners should
have been prepared for Clark's absence.
If not, go and grab Ben Utecht.
|
|
NOT
DEFENSE
Against the league's best offense, the
Chiefs are better left on the bench this
week. The Chargers are averaging 32.7
points a game and make very few mistakes
in a ball-control offense built around
star RB LaDainian Tomlinson. |
|
The Broncos' defense has lost its magic
touch from early in the season and will
not be a top-tier play this week. The
Broncos have allowed 31.3 points over
their last four games (including 83 in
two games agianst the Chargers) and have
carried the team during rookie QB Jay
Cutler's first two starts. To make matters
worse, the Cardinals are on a hot streak
