Seven weeks into the 2005 season
and we started out the day with only the Colts left
as an undefeated team. I've got news for you. They're
still undefeated. They blew out the Texans, trust
me. What a weekend for football this was. Of these
4 teams which one blew it the most in your opinion?
Green Bay, Dallas, Denver, or San Diego. There were
only four wideouts that posted 100 receiving yards
on Sunday and the best performance of any player?
A mere 114 yards by Donald Driver. Santana Moss
had 112 yards and a score and Az-Zahir Hakim just
squeaked in with 100 yards and one score. The only
other - Doug Gabriel - had just 101 yards and no
score.
There were only 20 wideouts that
had a touchdown yesterday and half of them were
held to less than 55 yards on the day. The only
player in the NFL with two receiving scores this
week was, of course, the fullback Mike Sellers for
the Redskins. Antonio Gates started the day slowly
but still ended up with the most yardage by a tight
end with 72 yards. Only four tight ends had touchdowns.
I'd like to thank the injury report morons for saying
Randy Moss was so doubtful he may need CPR only
to have him start and score a touchdown in the first
quarter...thanks. Lastly, I'd like to thank LT for
all 7 of those rushing yards he amassed today. I
know LT is still the best, but 7 yards? six games
were decided by four points or less, and a few of
those came down to a decisive play, or kick, within
the final ticks of the game clock. As I enjoyed
the best of fantasy this week, here are the studs
and duds for NFL fantasy football week 7:

Fantasy Quarterbacks

FANTASY FOOTBALL STUDS - WEEK 7
M. Brunell, WAS
252 yds, 3 TD, 0 Int
D. Culpepper, MIN
280 yds, 2 TD, 0 Int
B. Favre, GNB
315 yds, 2 TD, 0 Int
A. Brooks, NOR
230 yds, 2 TD, 1 Int
E. Manning, NYG
214 yds, 2 TD, 1 Int
QB Reports:
The Redskins are at it again, but they did
play the lowly 49ers this weekend. But what
a huge game for the banged up Clinton Portis.
Another week, another absolute MONSTER game
from someone on the Redskins. Brunell to Mike
Sellers was the hot combo this week. Betcha
had him in your lineups didn't you?
Just when you expect Duante Suckpepper to
tank the season for the Vikings after the
turmoil of the boat orgy he has hig best game
of the season. This team is just plain unpredictable.
Jermaine Wiggins had six more catches, showing
that he's one of Daunte Culpepper's favorite
targets, plus Duante finally got Mewelde Moore
into the endzone for his first career touchdown.
Sorry folks but you must keep Duante in your
lineups once again. He'll be better with a
full speed Nate Burleson next week too. On
the opposite side of the field was the GunSlinger
Favre. He brought his best stuff yet again
and if not for a 56 yard Field goal by Minni
to win he's up for Stud of the Week honors.
I for one hope Brett doesn't retire this year.
Aaron Brooks' New Orleans Saints are cursed.
Plain and Simple. This team can't get a brake.
Brooks without Horn but with a healthy Az-Hakim
going against his old team threw for 230yds
and threw a couple TD's. He's a decent 2nd
QB for your teams still. Rounding out the
QB studs this week is Eli Manning. Forget
this crap about Manning coming along. This
kid has arrived. That final play of the game
to throw to Toomer for the TD was a thing
of beauty the way he backpeddled to find time.
Simply Sweet! Burress, Toomer, Shockey, and
Barber are great weapons at his finger tips,
so watch for more.

Running Backs
Key
Stats
L. Jordan, OAK
162 yds, 3 TD
C. Portis, WAS
113 yds, 3 TD
E. James, IND
147 yds, 2 TD
S. Jackson, STL
116 yds, 2 TD
P. Holmes, KAN
96 yds, 2 TD
M. Anderson, DEN
120 yds, 1 TD
W. Parker, PIT
131 yds, 1 TD
Running Backs Report:
Fantasy Stud of the Week - I think
Sunday's effort – 28 carries, 122 rushing
yards, 40 receiving yards, 3 TDs – qualifies
as one big day wouldn't you? The Raiders Lamont
Jordan shredded the Bills run defense
for career highs in total yards and scores.
Buffalo's run D is truly the worst in the
league. Clinton Portis rang up 101 yards and
3 td's....YES THREE! Portis seemed allergic
to the endzone until today...his owners were
finally rewarded. Don't look too much into
Ladell Betts' stats, since a lot of that came
in garbage time.
Edge is of course of to a great start with
the amount the Colts are running the ball
this year. Practically making Stokley non
existant as the 3rd wideout. He's the #3 RB
in Fantasy Football this year. Week 8 he's
on a bye so I hope you have some RB depth
on your teams. The depleted passing game in
St. Louis meant more looks for Steven Jackson,
who had 97 rushing yards and two scores. Jackson
has put together two great fantasy weeks in
a row and is finally living up to the preseason
hype. Jackson's yardage numbers aren't always
thrilling, but he is nearly impossible for
opposing defenders to contain near the goal
line. Jackson rushed for scores of 6 and 1
yards, and he now has five TD runs in the
past four games. The Chiefs on Friday night
in Miami played with a simplified game plan
which could best be described as "Larry
Left, Priest Right". The duo combined
for 183 yards and three scores. Holmes' couple
of big plays and Johnson appeared to be the
fighting for title of "who is the better
runner?" Either way, the Chiefs controlled
the ball, meaning both guys had many chances
to pile up stats The Miami offense played
like they were just notified a game was happening
and other than Ronnie Brown's 65 yard touchdown
run, there was very little happening here.
Ronnie Brown had the best Running TD of the
week in this game too. Brown had a tough 65
yard touchdown run down the sidelines, blowing
up 3 Cheifs in the process.
If you put Tatum Bell in your lineups this
week over Mike Anderson you probably lost
your week. Bad Bad Move. I dumped both players
last week in one 8 team league because I was
sick of making decisions on either of them.
Who knows what the Rat will do week to week
with his runners. Maybe Ron Dayne runs for
100 yds next week? Fast Willie Parker was
the stud for the Steelers on Sunday. He had
a huge game against a tough Bengals D in Cinci.
He streaked back onto the fantasy football
map by running for 131 yards and a touchdown
and old reliable...The Bus, chipped in 56
yards as the Steelers just grinded this one
out.
Note: The Eagles held Tomlinson
to a career-low 7 rushing yards. He only added
26 receiving yards and his NFL record of consecutive
games with a touchdown ended at 18. Is there
now a "blueprint" for containing
Tomlinson?
Fantasy
Wide Receivers
Key
Stats
D. Driver, GNB
114 yds, 1 TD
S. Moss, WAS
112 yds, 1 TD
A. Hakim, NOR
100 yds, 1 TD
Wideouts Report:
As a calling card for what to expect later
in the season, the normal decline in passing
numbers decided to take a dive early this
year, making week 7 of 2005 the worst passing
week of the last many years. Quite simply,
it stunk. I cannot recall such a lackluster
week for throwing and catching the ball -
ever.
There were only four wideouts that posted
100 receiving yards on Sunday and the best
performance of any player? A mere 114 yards
by Donald Driver. Santana Moss had 112 yards
and a score and Az-Zahir Hakim just squeaked
in with 100 yards and one score. The only
other - Doug Gabriel - had just 101 yards
and no score. There were only 20 wideouts
that had a touchdown yesterday and half of
them were held to less than 55 yards on the
day.
Waiver wire pickups, throw WR Antonio Chatman's
name into the mix. Despite being just 5-foot-9,
Chatman has hauled in a Brett Favre scoring
toss in three of the past four games. WR Robert
Ferguson injured his ankle on Sunday, so Chapman
may find himself in the starting lineup if
Ferguson misses time.
TIGHT
ENDS
Key
Stats
A. Gates, SDG
72 yds, 1 TD
H. Miller, PIT
58 yds, 1 TD
D. Clark, IND
51 yds, 1 TD
Tight Ends Report
- Week 7 - Nothing special to write
aboutt this week. Gonzo improved, Gates did
the usual, Miller is emerging and is a redzone
threat, and Dallas Clark finally played up
to his potential, adding yet another weapon
to the INDY offense. Pretty typical TE fantasy
weekend in game 7, wouldn't you think?

& Duds Week 7
NFL
FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEKLY DUDS - WEEK 7
Fantasy Dud News: Dud Of the Week:
LaDainian Tomlinson, RB, Chargers who had
17 carries for 7 yards and 4 catches for 26
yards. Are you freaking kidding me? He didn't
even get his TD record by some 80 year old
to add salt on his wounds. The Eagles D stepped
up HUGE in this game, kudo's to them. Is this
a sign of things to come for OTHER top NFL
defenses, as a way to beat LT and Chargers?
We'll see. The Eagles did not really deserve
the win, the Chargers did not deserve the
loss but in the end - only the scoreboard
matters. And now Tomlinson has to start all
over.
1. After a long struggle,
The Atlanta Falcons are finally getting this
Monday Night thing down. The franchise, which
sports an NFL-worst 7-18 record in Monday
night games, will try to move to 2-0 in primetime
in their Week 8 matchup against the visiting
New York Jets. The Falcons were 14-10 Monday
night winners over the Eagles in Week 1, and
will have another chance to give the fans
at the Georgia Dome something about which
to cheer.
In addition to trying to put on a good show
for a national television audience, Atlanta
will be attempting to keep pace in the very
strong NFC South. Tampa Bay (5-1) and Carolina
(4-2) have both been among the elite teams
in the NFC through six games, and the Falcons
have a chance to move ahead of the Panthers
and get within a half-game of the Bucs with
a victory on Monday night.
The Jets, meanwhile, will be trying turn
around a 2005 season that has been disappointing
thus far. Herman Edwards and company have
begun the season with a 2-4 record amid a
well-publicized struggle at the quarterback
position. Chad Pennington and Jay Fiedler
are both out indefinitely with shoulder injuries,
and 41-year-old Vinny Testaverde will be making
his third start of the 2005 season Monday.
Testaverde is 1-1 since taking over starting
duties, including a 27-17 loss at Buffalo
last week.
