1.Playing Small Pairs
66-55-44-33-22: These hands play best in
situations in which the price to see the flop is
low and the number of opponents is high. You are
only about 7.5-1 to flop a set when holding a pair,
and the value of these hands comes from making sets.
In early/middle position in games that are loose
and passive pre-flop, these hands are playable.
In games with generally either few opponents or
aggressive raising players, passing these hands
is the best play. These hands pick up some value
in late position, but you still need volume and
a cheap entry price. As far as calling a raise cold
with these hands, a good rule of thumb would be
to get at least 4-1 on your call before the flop
and expectation of reasonable action after the flop.
