WEEK 4 NFL Power Rankings

I'll run down my rankings of all 32 NFL teams and put them in their places. The winds of change blow strong this time of year in the NFL and I will extrapolate the results off-season moves and draft picks to give you an idea on how I see these changes affecting every teams shot at the Lombardi trophy. The Colts have retained the top spot in the Power Rankings this week, but should the play of Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis offense to date be cause for alarm? Three games into the season Indianapolis has scored a mere 47 points, for an average of 15.7 points per game. That is a couple notches below the league average, which sits around 20 points per game. Thanks to a defense that has allowed only 5.3 points per game through Week 3, though, the Colts are 3-0 on the season. However, that lack of scoring punch has resulted in them struggling to cover spreads, and has them sitting on a 1-2 ATS record.

The Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Washington Redskins (who had a bye in Week 3) are also undefeated straight up (SU) on the season. Against-the-spread (ATS), the Bengals and Jacksonville Jaguars have perfect records. Still looking for their first SU win are the Oakland Raiders, Green Bay Packers, Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens (bye in Week 3), and Houston Texans (bye in Week 3). Winless ATS teams at this point are the Ravens, Texans, and Cardinals.

Those same Cardinals are sitting at No. 32 in the rankings this week, and they'll likely be missing starting quarterback Kurt Warner when they take to the field at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night. Warner left their Week 3 loss with a groin injury, and he could be out of action for some time. That means the team could be forced to turn to Josh McCown as they try to snap their losing streak. That might not be such a bad thing for supporters of the Cardinals - it's not like Warner has been that great in his first few games in the desert.

Why do we do this? Why do the NFL power rankings even matter? Well let me tell you!!! They don't! But we still love NFL power rankings anyways. If Week 4 is just as crazy, watch for the next edition of the rankings to show some serious movement.

2-1-0	8	Jaguars		Knocked out two New York Jets quarterbacks on Sunday, but still needed overtime to boost their mark to 2-1.
2-1-0	9	Broncos		Finally got the offense rolling versus the Chiefs on Monday night, and vaulted into a first-place division tie as a result.
2-1-0	10	Chiefs		Allowed more points in their Monday night loss to the Broncos than they had in their first two contests combined.
2-0-0	11	Rams		Marc Bulger and Torry Holt tore apart the Titans' secondary last week for the team's second straight win.
2-0-0	12	Seahawks		Outclassed the Cardinals last week for their second-straight win to keep pace with the Rams in the division.
2-0-0	13	Redskins		For all the quarterback issues this team has had so far, it's surprising that they have yet to lose a game.
1-2-0	14	Panthers		So they can get past the Patriots, but the Dolphins give them more than they can handle?
1-2-0	15	Chargers		LaDainian Tomlinson ran for 192 yards and three scores, and also tossed a TD strike in their win over the Giants.
2-1-0	16	Giants		Eli Manning's visit to San Diego wasn't a pleasant one, although he wasn't responsible for allowing 45 points.
1-2-0	17	Vikings		Big game for Daunte Culpepper in their win over the Saints, and both he and the team really needed that effort.
2-1-0	18	Cowboys		Needed to put up 15 points in the fourth quarter to get past the 49ers. Stay out west to play Oakland this week.
2-1-0	19	Dolphins		Tied with the Patriots for first place in the AFC East, but not too many are jumping on the Dolphins' bandwagon yet.
1-1-0	20	Lions		Thanks to their Week 3 bye, they're still on top of the NFC North. Take on undefeated Tampa Bay this week.
1-1-0	21	Ravens		Kyle Boller could be back on October 16, leaving QB duties to Anthony Wright for another three weeks at least.
1-2-0	22	Jets		Chad Pennington is out. Jay Fiedler is out. Brooks Bollinger, the starting QB job is now yours.
1-2-0	23	Saints		Emotional win in Week 1 has been followed by two straight losses. Play at the Alamodome this weekend.
1-2-0	24	Bills		Only 75 yards passing, no touchdowns, and one interception by J.P. Losman in their loss to the Falcons.
1-2-0	25	Bears		The shine has definitely come off Kyle Orton - no TD passes and five interceptions in their loss to the Bengals.
1-2-0	26	Titans		They can climb up to the .500 mark with a win in Week 3, but they'll have to topple the Colts in order to do that.
0-3-0	27	Packers		Another poor performance in Week 3; deficiencies will be displayed on national TV when they play Monday night.
1-2-0	28	Browns		Gave up only 13 points to Peyton Manning and the Colts, but could only muster two field goals on the day.
1-2-0	29	49ers		Couldn't hold on to beat the Cowboys, but WR Brandon Lloyd still had a big game (142 yards receiving, 2 TDs).
0-3-0	30	Texans		Hope they rested up and regrouped on their bye week - they get the Bengals in Cincinnati in their return to action.
0-3-0	31	Raiders		Get the Cowboys at home this week as they try again to dislodge that zero from the win column.
0-3-0	32	Cardinals		They can't win in the United States, so maybe they'll be able to pick up a W this weekend in Mexico.
