WEEK 14 NFL Power Rankings

 

The Indianapolis Colts keep winning, but let's talk about who keeps losing to start things off in Week 14 of the Power Rankings. First and foremost (last and lastmost?) are the New York Jets, who have now lost seven games in a row (the league's longest current skid).

That's worse than the current losing streaks of the league's other crummy teams, as the San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans have each only lost five in a row. Not surprisingly, that terrible trio continues to occupy spots 30 through 32 in the rankings. There's still hope for each of them though - teams like the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, and Buffalo Bills have all lost three in a row, and risk tumbling further down the list.

Also losers of three straight? The Pittsburgh Steelers, who fall from No. 9 to No. 14 in this week's edition of the rankings thanks to their loss to the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The Steelers once sat with a 7-2 mark this season; they're now 7-5 and fading out of the AFC postseason picture. Even worse for Steelers supporters is their 6-6 mark against-the-spread, which includes a terrible 2-4 ATS mark at Heinz Field. Evening out their record is a 4-2 ATS mark on the road. And it must be a division thing. The rival Bengals also have a poor ATS record at home (2-4), but have been paying off for supporters big time on the road this season (5-0-1 ATS record). 9-3-0	7	Bears		You wouldn't know it by looking at their record and win streak, but this team is going through a QB controversy.
9-3-0	8	Jaguars		Did just enough to get past the Browns on the weekend, but will be in tough versus the Colts in Sunday's game.
8-4-0	9	Giants		Won their showdown with the Cowboys in Week 13; get another NFC East battle in Week 14 versus the Eagles.
8-4-0	10	Chiefs		Beating the Broncos moved them to within a game of the AFC West lead, and kept them tied with the Chargers.
8-4-0	11	Buccaneers		Can move into a first-place tie with the Panthers in the NFC South if they can pick up a win over Carolina this week.
7-5-0	12	Patriots		Could only muster 16 points against the Jets on the weekend, but it was enough to boost their record to 7-5.

7-5-0	14	Cowboys		Two straight losses has them a game back of the Giants in the NFC East. Have tough game versus KC this week.
7-5-0	15	Vikings		The winning streak is now at five for the Vikings, and they've become a legitimate playoff contender once again.
7-5-0	16	Falcons		Loss to the Panthers on the weekend was damaging to their playoff chances; now grouped with Wild Card hopefuls.
6-6-0	17	Redskins		Climbed back up to the .500 mark by topping the Rams in Week 13. Have a road game versus Arizona in Week 14.
5-7-0	18	Dolphins		Beat the Bills 24-23 last week to stake a claim on second place in the AFC East. Have now won two straight games.
5-7-0	19	Rams		With first place in the NFC West division out of reach, there's not much left for this team to play for this season.
5-7-0	20	Eagles		Can do the rival Cowboys a favour in Week 14 by knocking off the division-leading Giants at Lincoln Financial Field.
4-8-0	21	Raiders		The AFC West is the best division in football right now - or at least three of the division's four teams are doing well.
4-8-0	22	Bills		Lost their status as 'team that could challenge the Pats in the AFC East' to the Dolphins thanks to last week's loss.
4-8-0	23	Browns		Now that they've lost rookie wide receiver Braylon Edwards there isn't much left to watch on the Browns in 2005.
4-8-0	24	Cardinals		Showed the 49ers who was the real third-place team in the NFC West with their 17-10 victory in Week 13 action.
4-8-0	25	Ravens		Slipped past the Texans on Sunday, but will need to put forth a stronger effort to defeat the Broncos this week.
3-9-0	26	Titans		Were nowhere close to competing with the Colts on Sunday, but they did manage to put three points on the board.
3-9-0	27	Saints		Everyone else in the NFC South is at least two games over the .500 mark. It's been a writeoff year for the Saints.
4-8-0	28	Lions		It's now three losses in a row for the Lions after they fell to the Vikings last week. Maybe it wasn't the coach's fault.
2-10-0	29	Packers		Ever think a team led by Brett Favre would have a 2-10 record? Can improve that mark versus the Lions this week.
2-10-0	30	49ers		Five losses in a row for the 49ers, who look to be 'surging' late to keep themselves in the running for Reggie Bush
2-10-0	31	Jets		Scored only three points against the Patriots in Week 13; seven straight losses has them sitting at a miserable 2-10.
2-10-0	32	Texans		but they'll probably stay behind the Texans, who could have their pick of Bush, Matt Leinart, or Vince Young.
