Ah, the NFC West. Never does one division always
have so much upside potential, only to offer
the same predictable results from season to season.
This might actually be the year that the Seahawks
get tossed from the throne.
The Seahawks’ stranglehold
of the division may be coming to an end as
the Niners, Rams and Cardinals begin to make
pushes for the playoffs. Can Holmgren and Hasselbeck
hold on in the NFC West, or will they finally
be unseated?

The reigning NFC West champs have a lot to be
excited about and so do their NFL betting followers.
Last year they lost both Shaun Alexander and
Matt Hasslebeck to injuries for extended periods
of time and still managed to win the division.
The running game has
been the staple of the Seahawk’s game plan for years, and much
of that is because it’s hard to go against
big Mack Strong and Shaun Alexander. With Alexander
The Great fully healthy once more, that same
powerful offensive running game should be in
fifth gear for the season.
The receivers in Seattle have long carried the
dubious distinction of dropped-ball-initis. With
Darrell Jackson parting ways with the team, the
load should fall into the capable hands of Deion
Branch, who has been underutilized in this scheme.
The defense in Seattle is underrated, and adding
a nasty defensive-end like Patrick Kearney should
go a long way in making the Seahawks a feared
defensive presence. Kerney is coming off a pec-tear
injury, but will have a lot of help with Lofa
Tutapu plugging the run.
The Seahawks are still the team to beat in the
NFC West. But even in a weak NFC, betting on
the Seahawks to win the big one is a huge gamble.
They peaked two years ago when they got crushed
by the Steelers.
