The Cardinals are
everyone’s favorite
team to make ‘the jump’ nearly every
season. There is plenty to be excited about,
again. Matt Leinart shined at quarterback, making
other teams second-guess why they passed on him
in the 2006 Draft. The Cards went 4-4 in the
second half of the season.
With Anquan Boldin, The Edge, Larry Fitzgerald
and Leinart spearheading an offensive attack,
the Cardinals will be a dangerous team. James
found his place in the offense as the season
went on, and will have a much better start to
the season.
The defense is still suspect, but big Alan Branch
from Michigan should shore up the front four
significantly. He is massive and will make life
easier for Okeafor and the rest of the boys up
front.

The secondary is decent with Antrel Rolle, Al
Wilson and Terrence Holt roaming the field. Rolle
will be in his third year and made huge improvements
last year.
The defense is not an impact defense, and they
cannot change the landscape of a game. At the
very least, they can keep the Cardinals in games.
Everyone is expecting Leinart to catch fire this
year, and there is little reason to doubt him.
Do not forget that coaching is a huge part of
success in the NFL, and Ken Wisenhunt and Russ
Grimm were both brought in from Pittsburgh to
help secure the offensive line, and give the
Cardinals the offensive creativity they have
been lacking.
Wisenhunt has been regarded as one of the best
offensive minds in football for quite some time.
He helped groom Ben Roethlisberger into a Super
Bowl champion. Imagine what he could do with
a kid like Leinart.
If the Niners stumble, the Cardinals will be
hot on the heels of the Seahawks. Still, we who
bet on football know the Cards are probably one
more season away from being serious contenders,
which is a reason to be cautious around them
for now.
