The Niners are one of the best young teams in
the league. With fantastic defensive additions,
and an offense that was explosive at times in
the latter half of the season, you can bet that
the Niners will find themselves in the playoff
picture late next season.
The most impressive
part of the Niners’ 2006
season were the two occasions they dismantled
Seattle. Those were overshadowed by embarrassing
losses to the lowly Cardinals, but it gives hope
to a Niners Nation that has been extremely patient.

Alex Smith has come in to his own at quarterback,
cutting down on his turnovers and making much
better decisions overall. Frank Gore exploded
on to the scene as a premier tailback, and the
holes will be just as open for him this year.
Vernon Davis suffered an unfortunate injury
last year, but he is back in full force and is
now complimented by a much better receiver corps.
Darrell Jackson was shipped in from rival Seattle,
and the under achieving Ashley Lelie was brought
in to help stretch the field. With this trio,
Smith and Gore have the weapons to move the chains
downfield and score some points.
Those who bet on the NFL know that defense is
a huge highlight for the team as well. Nate Clements
was signed to a huge contract to shut down one
side of the field, while Patrick Willis was drafted
at linebacker to be the 240-pound terror he was
at Mississippi. The front line is a little suspect,
but they can take up ample space to free Willis
up to do some damage.
The Niners have extremely high hopes, and must
produce in the coming season. They have a tough
schedule, but they also have plenty of confidence
in their young selves. Look for the Niners to
surprise many, but do not be the one that is
surprised when they are challenging for the NFC
West crown.
