Brett Favre is in for one more ride (we think)
and this is probably the worst team, at least
for NFL betting, that he has had to command in
recent years. Still, before training camp ends,
he will surely say it is the best team he has
ever seen; it is like he has no memory whatsoever.
Ahman Green left for Houston and the Packers
failed to bring in Randy Moss, somebody Favre
desperately wanted.
The Packers’ only saving grace is that
they have the luxury of playing in the NFC North,
which should bide them enough time to stay competitive
with the Bears. Brett Favre is comfortable throwing
the ball to Greg Jennings and Donald “The
Darkness” Driver, but the run game is a
huge concern.

Green left; leaving
the job to…uh…we’re
not sure, actually. They drafted Brandon Jackson
from Nebraska and DeShawn Wynn from Florida,
but Jackson is too small to play in the NFL.
Wynn, on the other hand, is the prototypical
NFL back and should be able to start by midseason.
Wynn, however, has immense trouble staying healthy,
so the running game is going to be a concern
all year long.
The solid defensive unit of the Packers returns
in 2007 with some new additions. Justin Harrell
was taken in the first round to secure the right
defensive tackle spot, and should fill a big
void there. A.J. Hawk and Nick Barnett remains
the cornerstones of a defense as Aaron Kampman
continues to be one of the most underrated pass
rushers in the game.
The problem is simply the uncertainty. Does
Favre still have it in him? Can they find a running
back? With such big, looming questions on offense,
it is hard to see the Packers keeping pace with
the Bears.
