College Football Betting - Clemson Tigers 2007 Preview - ACC Conference

Clemson was assigned
college football betting odds of +215 to win
the ACC’s Coastal Division.
Media writers picked the Clemson
Tigers to finish
third in the division while the BetUS sportsbook
assigned them NCAA football odds of +350 to win
the conference.
James Davis and CJ
Spiller, who combined for 2,125 yds and 27
TD’s last year, rival
Arkansas’s McFadden and Jones for the nation’s
premier tailback duo. Aaron Kelly (6-5, 180;
Jr) and Jacoby Ford (5-9, 180; So) present the
passing-game with big-bodied and pure speed options,
respectively.
All-ACC LT Barry Richardson (6-7, 320; Sr) leads
a line that must replace three starters although
the newcomers each have significant playing-experience
under their belt.
The clear question is if and when the line will
begin to protect true freshman QB Willy Korn
(6-2, 200). Korn had more than 10,000 passing
yards in high-school and participated in spring
practices.
Young and slight of
build, the staff hopes DE Ricky Sapp (6-4,
220; So) can apply edge pressure. The clear
question will be his ability to contain the
perimeter against the run. The combined 211
tackles from WLB Nick Watkins (6-2, 220; Sr)
and MLB Antonio Clay (6-0, 220; Jr) is evidence
of NG Dorell Scott’s (6-4, 305; Jr) effect
in the middle.
The return of Tramaine
Billie (6-1, 210; Sr) to the SAM spot from
injury and (from a real threat of academic
ineligibility) makes the Tigers’ linebacking
crew formidable.
Both corners are young
but not entirely green. Crezdon Butler (6-0,
185; So) had 3 INT’s
as a true freshman last year. Chris Clemons (6-1,
205; Jr) and Michael Hamlin (6-3, 200; Jr) will
form a dangerous safety duo.
Clemson drew Georgia
Tech (away) and Virginia Tech (home) from the
Coastal Division and opens up at home against
FSU but, with the exception of the season-ending
battle against Spurrier’s
Gamecocks in Columbia, the non-conference schedule
is uninspiring (ULM, Furman and Central Michigan).
Clemson should win its other ACC road games (NC
State, Maryland and Duke).
