Welcome to another edition
of The Weekly Wager, from WagerOnFootball.com.
After the a great week of NFL Wildcard divisional
there are two more exciting games awaiting
us on NFL Conference Championship Weekend.
No Tom Brady, no Bill Belichick,
no three-peat, no Peyton Manning. The NFL
playoffs enter the final four this week
searching for stars and story lines. Can
33-year-old backup running back Jerome Bettis
going home to Detroit in his final season
capture the imagination of a nation? Maybe
Shaun Alexander, the league's leading rusher,
vs. Steve Smith, the league's leading receiver,
can generate some hype in the NFC. Pittsburgh
@ Denver - This is a rematch of the 1997
AFC title game won by Denver in Pittsburgh,
so the Steelers and coach Bill Cowher have
a chance to repay the favor against coach
Mike Shanahan in Denver. Carolina @ Seattle
- This will be the third game between the
franchises. The Seahawks won 23-17 in Seattle
in 2004 and the Panthers won 26-3 in Carolina
in 2000. Lets stop wasting your time and

Steelers have been the biggest
story of the playoffs so
far. After a convincing
victory at Cincinnati in
the wild-card round, the
Steelers surprised many
by upending the top-seeded
Colts in Indianapolis last
weekend. Pittsburgh is clearly
peaking at the right time,
but it has one more major
hurdle to clear on the road
to Super Bowl XL. The Broncos,
13-3 in the regular season,
just ended the Patriots'
reign and are always a tough
team at home, especially
in the playoffs.

The Seahawks are one step
away from a first-ever Super
Bowl appearance, and will
be playing at home, where
they are 9-0 this season.
With RB Shaun Alexander
expected to play, despite
suffering a concussion against
the Redskins, Seattle is
also extremely healthy.
Meanwhile, the strain of
back-to-back playoff games
has begun to take its toll
on Carolina's roster. Several
key starters are battling
injuries, and starting RB
DeShaun Foster will not
play because of a broken
ankle. The grueling cross-country
road trip is also not fun,
but the Panthers are a battle-tested
team and figure to be game.
