Football betting: injuries already taking toll
in the NFL!
Betting On Football ? -
What a year for betting this will be in the
NFL as teams have reloaded with key free agent
acquisitions and talented draft choices, yet
when it is all said and done, the team that
spend the least amount of time in the infirmary,
will be there swinging in January.
There is huge optimism
in the Valley of the Sun (Phoenix) where the
Arizona Cardinals are the pick of many football
insiders, to make some noise in 2006. They have
added Edgerrin James to an already potent offense
that contains Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald
and Anquan Bolden. Coach Denny Green is excited
about his defense and also felt that his offensive
line would be much improved with the addition
of Milford Brown and having a healthy Oliver
Ross at right tackle.
That was until yesterday!
Ross injured his right
knee in practice Wednesday, and the injury has
been diagnosed as a probable torn meniscus,
the same injury that sidelined Arizona wide
receiver Anquan Boldin and cornerback Antrel
Rolle for much of last season.
If Ross undergoes surgery,
he will be sidelined up to 10 weeks, leaving
the team depleted at an important spot as it
tries to improve what was the worst running
game in the NFL a year ago.
The Cardinals will begin
play in a new state of the art stadium this
fall and play to a sold out stadium, but if
they cannot run to the right, it could be another
disappointing year in the desert.
The Atlanta Falcons are
always considered a contender with Michael Vick
at the helm and the solid running of Warrick
Dunn, but they need some consistent play from
their wideouts. They have two talented youngsters
in Roddy White and Michael Jenkins, as well
as tight end Crumpler, but their clutch go to
guy was Brian Finneran.
Finneran, 30, led all Falcons’
wide receivers with 50 catches for 611 yards
last season. At 6-5, Finneran provided Vick
with a tall, rangy target. He will not be available
this year, as he tore his kneecap up on Monday
and is gone for the year.
The Cleveland Browns went
out and spent millions in the offseason on free
agency and were ecstatic to get all pro center
LeCharles Bentley from the New Orleans Saints.
Next to the quarterback, the center position
is vital to a team’s success. The Browns
were barely into their first practice, when
Bentley tore his knee up. Good-bye Brownies!
Whenever betting
on football, pay attention to injuries
and how it affects the betting lines.
