Defensive battles have been commonplace in this matchup and 8 of the last 11 meetings have finished Under the number as a result. And because of the half court style of basketball that Pitt prefers to play, we have seen 4 of the last 5 played in Pittsburgh finish Under the number. Pitt is a good defensive team, but it is not one that is going to come up with a lot of turnovers. Coach Dixon prefers to pack it in, staying solid throughout a defensive possession to force his opponent into a low percentage shot at the end of the shot clock. This makes for a solid Unders situation tonight as WVU is 6-0 Under versus team that force 12 or fewer turnovers per game after 15-plus games over the last 2 seasons and 8-0 Under versus teams who average 6 or less steals per game after 15-plus games over the last 2 seasons. The Line on this game has actually gone from Rider as a 1 point favorite to -1 for Fairfield,due to the home loss revenge for Fairfield. The problem I see for Fairfield is they they do not play well with revenge as they are 0-3 at home with revenge and simply have a hard time stopping Rider. In the last 5 games between these 2 teams Rider has shot 50% or higher from the field. I don't feel I'm going out on a limb here tonight to suggest they will do so again. Fairfield rarely wins when they allow opponents to shoot such a high percentage from the field and are awful on the road vs winning teams. Stay at home with Rider tonight. On The Friday night card I have a 30-2 Power angle in the Back yard brawl in college hoops tonight on ESPN. The Princeton Tigers have found their way back to the top of the Ivy League, and all of their games have been on the road. It would be easy to like them here coming home, but with a total of under 110, the steep double-digit line is definitely more like a 20-point line in a normal scoring game. Both of these teams work with methodical offenses that reduce the shots taken, and shorten the game. It is one of the reasons why Princeton has had extreme difficulty taking down large numbers, and the result has been 1-10 ATS at home giving 13 or more. It is also the reason slowdown Columbia is 19-7 ATS as a dog of 13 or more. I'm going with Columbia in this one.
