Tournaments
Tournament Types
VIPpoker Tournament Types - Vippoker.com
Play Money Buy-In:
A Play Money Buy-In is a tournament where the players
buy-in with play money. Players are paid out in
play money. These tournaments will be indicated
on the tournament registration page as Play Money.
Freeroll:
A Freeroll is a tournament where there is no buy-in
or entry fee. Entry into this type of tournament
is FREE. Cash prizes are awarded as well as play
money. These tournaments will be indicated on the
tournament registration page as Free Roll.
Regular Buy-In:
A Regular Buy-In is a tournament where players buy
in with real money. Cash Prizes are awarded based
on the number of registered entrants.
Turbo:
A Turbo Tournament is a tournament where the bet
levels increase more rapidly than regular tournaments.
Currently the levels in our Turbo Tournaments are
set to increase every 5 minutes.
Bounty:
A Bounty tournament is a multi-table tournament
where players buy in with real money. Cash Prizes
are awarded based on the number of registered entrants
plus the player who busts out any one of our resident
pros (FloorMan, FloorMan2 & FloorGal) wins an
extra $100.
Shoot Out:
A Shoot Out is a tournament whereby a number of
tables play down to one winner, and then the winners
of each of the single tables compete in a final
table playoff. Each of the qualifying tournaments
are identified at the Sign Up page with the game
type and "Shoot Out"
(IE Hold'em NL Shoot Out).
The winner of each of the single
table events moves onto the final playoff table
that evening. Entry to the final playoff is exclusive
to those players who placed first in a qualifying
shoot out round and players are not permitted to
"buy in" to the final event. The final
event will be listed as Shoot Out Final and is the
same game type as the qualifying events. Vippoker.com
2K Shoot Out Policy:
Players are entitled to one seat in the final of
the Daily 2K Shoot-Outs. If a player wins a second
qualifier for a seat in the final, the seat will
be awarded to the player finishing in second place
of that particular qualifier.
Tournament
Structure
Most tournaments will start
with an initial chip stack of 1500 chips. For special
tournaments, the starting chip stack may be increased
or decreased but will always be reflected in the
associated information for the tournament at the
registration pages. Bet limits, bet limit timing
increases and payouts vary according to the tournament
type but are fully described on the registration
pages for each tournament.
As a norm, tournament bet levels
increase in increments of 10 minutes time depending
upon the tournament game type. In a tournament denoted
as "Turbo", the bet level increase more
rapidly; normally in 5 minute increments.
