- Michael Vick threw for 228 yards with a touchdown
to lead the Atlanta Falcons over the Miami Dolphins,
17-10, at Dolphins Stadium. Vick completed 22-of-31
passes and ran the ball eight times for 38 yards
for the Falcons (6-2), who have won three in
a row and remain in a first-place tie with the
Carolina Panthers atop the NFC South. Brian
Finneran added eight catches for 92 yards with
a score for Atlanta, which never trailed but
needed Keion Carpenter to come up with a key
interception late in the game to secure the
win. Gus Frerotte finished 13-of-22 for 103
yards with a pick for Miami (3-5), which has
lost four of its last five games.

- Steve Smith continued his career season with
106 yards receiving and a touchdown as the Carolina
Panthers defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
34-14, in a big NFC South matchup at Raymond
James Stadium. Jake Delhomme was 11-of-18 for
216 yards passing with a score, while Stephen
Davis ran for 48 yards and a pair of touchdowns
as the Panthers (6-2) have now won five straight
and are tied with Atlanta for the top spot in
the division. Chris Gamble had two interceptions,
one returned 61 yards for a touchdown for Carolina,
which beat the Bucs for a fifth straight time.
Chris Simms was 25- of-42 for 259 yards throwing
with a touchdown and two interceptions. Carnell
"Cadillac" Williams ran for only 29
yards and lost a fumble for the Buccaneers (5-3),
who have lost two straight.

- Carson Palmer threw for 248 yards and two
touchdowns to lead the Cincinnati Bengals past
the Baltimore Ravens, 21-9, at M&T Bank
Stadium. Palmer completed 19-of-26 passes, while
Chad Johnson caught five balls for 91 yards
for the Bengals (7-2), who have won three of
their last four, including two in a row. Rudi
Johnson led the ground game with 97 yards on
29 carries. T.J. Houshmandzadeh had 61 yards
receiving on five catches, and Chris Henry and
Tab Perry each had touchdown receptions in the
win. Anthony Wright completed 19 of his 30 passes
for 153 yards and Matt Stover accounted for
all of Baltimore's points with three field goals.
Jamal Lewis managed only 49 yards on the ground
in 15 attempts for the Ravens (2-6), who have
lost three straight.

- Brad Johnson threw for a pair of touchdowns
as the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Detroit
Lions 27-14 at the Metrodome. Johnson, who is
filling in for the injured Daunte Culpepper,
went 15-of-22 for 136 yards with no interceptions
for Minnesota (3-5), which has won two of its
last three games. Michael Bennett rushed for
106 yards on 18 carries and also had a receiving
touchdown for the Vikings. Mewelde Moore added
49 yards on the ground. Joey Harrington struggled
in this contest, going 28-of-48 for 263 yards
with a touchdown and two interceptions for the
Lions (3-5), who have dropped three of four.
Harrington also lost a fumble in this game.
Two of his three turnovers were converted into
touchdowns. Artose Pinner had 11 yards rushing
and a score in Jones' absence, and also caught
two balls for 26 yards for Detroit, which has
now lost eight straight in Minnesota.

- Greg Jones' 12-yard touchdown run with just
under three minutes left in the fourth quarter
gave the Jacksonville Jaguars a come from behind,
21-14 victory over the Houston Texans at Alltel
Stadium. Jones was playing in place of Fred
Taylor, who left the game with an ankle injury.
He finished with 27 yards on seven carries,
while Taylor rushed 12 times for 48 yards before
the injury. Byron Leftwich threw for 218 yards
on 19-of-25 passing with a touchdown for the
Jaguars (5-3), who have won three of their last
four games. Leftwich also ran for a touchdown
in the win. Ernest Wilford caught four passes
for 89 yards with a touchdown reception for
Jacksonville. David Carr finished 22-of-30 passing
for 219 yards and a touchdown for the Texans
(1-7), who couldn't build momentum after winning
their first game of the season last week against
Cleveland.

- Larry Johnson dove over the pile for a one-
yard touchdown run on the game's final play,
as Kansas City posted a dramatic 27-23 win over
Oakland at Arrowhead Stadium. Johnson, filling
in for All-Pro back Priest Holmes, finished
with 107 rushing yards and two scores on 22
carries for the Chiefs (5-3), who have won three
of their last four games. Kerry Collins finished
21-of-40 for 175 yards with two touchdowns and
an interception for the Raiders (3-5), who had
a two-game winning streak halted.

- LaDainian Tomlinson had 153 total yards with
a career-high four touchdowns and San Diego
made a late defensive stand inside the five-yard
line, as the Chargers defeated the New York
Jets, 31-26, in a thrilling game at the Meadowlands.
Drew Brees ended 20-of-27 for 270 yards with
a touchdown and an interception for the Chargers
(5-4), who have won two straight games to move
over the .500 mark for the first time this season.
Tomlinson rushed for 107 yards with three scores
while catching three passes for 46 yards with
a TD. Antonio Gates added eight catches for
132 yards in the win. Curtis Martin had 72 yards
rushing and a score for the Jets, who have lost
three straight games. In addition, Martin picked
up his 100th career touchdown, making him just
the 10th running back in history to have at
least 100 scores.

- Trent Dilfer threw for 272 yards and a touchdown
as the Cleveland Browns held off the Tennessee
Titans, 20-14, on a windy Sunday afternoon.
Dilfer went 18-for-34 along with an interception
for the Browns (3-5), who bounced back from
last week's defeat at the hands of the Houston
Texans and snapped a three-game skid. Reuben
Droughns, who was arrested earlier in the week
on a driving under the influence charge, carried
the ball 20 times for 116 yards. Steve McNair
went 18-for-41 with 235 yards, one touchdown
and one interception in the loss, the Titans'
(2-7) fourth straight. Chris Brown carried the
ball 22 times for 95 yards and a score and Erron
Kinney added five receptions for 74 yards and
a touchdown.

- Shaun Alexander carried the ball 23 times
for 173 yards and two touchdowns and the defense
forced four turnovers, as the Seattle Seahawks
defeated the Arizona Cardinals, 33-19, in an
NFC West battle at Sun Devil Stadium. Matt Hasselbeck
was 13-for-20 with 158 yards and a touchdown
and also ran for a touchdown, as the Seahawks
(6-2) won their fourth game in a row and opened
a two-game lead on idle St. Louis in the division.
Kurt Warner went 29-for-48 with 334 yards, one
touchdown, and three interceptions for the Cardinals
(2-6), who have lost three out of their last
four.

- Brandon Jacobs scored a pair of fourth- quarter
touchdowns to lead the New York Giants over
the San Francisco 49ers, 24-6, at Monster Park.
Eli Manning completed 18-of-33 passes for 251
yards with one touchdown and no interceptions
for New York, which increased its lead in the
NFC East to one full game. The win for the second-year
quarterback was his first in six career road
starts. Jacobs' touchdowns runs were both from
one yard out for the Giants (6-2), who have
won three in a row. Tiki Barber ran for 71 yards
on 21 carries and caught two passes for 32 yards
as the Giants picked up their first win away
from the Meadowlands this season. Cody Pickett,
making his first career start at quarterback,
completed 12-of-21 passes for 102 yards with
an interception. He helped the Niners (2-6)
put together a few nice drives in the second
half, but San Francisco still failed to follow
up last week's victory over Tampa Bay with another
win. The Niners have dropped six of their last
seven games.

- Robbie Gould kicked a 28-yard field goal with
six seconds remaining to lift the Chicago Bears
over the New Orleans Saints, 20-17, at Tiger
Stadium. Kyle Orton completed just 12-of-26
passes for 137 yards with a touchdown and two
interceptions, but the Chicago ground game and
defense was able to do enough to pull out the
win. Running back Thomas Jones did not play
in the second half because of a rib injury.
His replacements, though, covered plenty of
ground. Rookie Cedric Benson amassed 79 yards
on 14 carries, while Adrian Peterson had 58
rushing yards and a score. Wideout Justin Gage
had four catches for 28 yards and a touchdown
for Chicago (5-3), which has won four straight
and extended its lead to two games atop the
NFC North. Aaron Brooks went 16-of-26 for 170
yards with a TD and an interception for the
Saints (2-7), who have lost five straight. Brooks
also ran for a score.

- Duce Staley ran for 76 yards and a touchdown
in his return to the Steelers lineup, as Pittsburgh
defeated the Green Bay Packers 20-10 at Lambeau
Field. The Steelers (6-2) played without quarterback
Ben Roethlisberger, who had arthroscopic knee
surgery earlier in the week. Charlie Batch filled
in and threw for only 65 yards on 9-of-16 passing
with one interception, but the Steelers still
won their third in a row. Troy Polamalu returned
a Brett Favre fumble 77 yards for a touchdown
for the Steelers, who won their 11th straight
road game as well. Favre was 20-of-35 for 214
yards and a critical late-game interception.
Samkon Gado ran for 62 tough yards and his first
NFL touchdown for the Packers (1-7), who have
lost three straight games.

- Clinton Portis ran for the go-ahead score
in the third quarter and Ryan Clark's interception
thwarted a potential tying drive with 1:25 left
in the fourth quarter, as the Washington Redskins
took advantage of a suspended Terrell Owens
to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 17-10 at FedEx
Field. The Redskins (5-3), who rebounded from
a 36-0 shellacking at the hands of the New York
Giants last week, came up with a huge play at
the right time to send the Eagles (4-4) to their
second straight loss and into last place in
the NFC East. Owens, who has been embattled
in a contract dispute all season, was suspended
Saturday by the Eagles for an indefinite period
for conduct detrimental to the team. Mark Brunell
completed 21-of-29 passes for 224 yards for
the Redskins, who snapped a seven-game losing
streak to the Eagles.
