Bet
Now: Miami (-7) at LSU
Note: There
are four Bowl games being played today. Minnesota
(-5) plays Virginia in the Music City Bowl,
Northwestern (+3) vs. UCLA in the Sun Bowl,
and South Carolina (-4) against Missouri in
the Independence Bowl.
Miami finished 9-2 for the year
and 6-2 in the ACC. The Hurricanes were 8-1
in mid-November and had a great chance at a
BCS bid, but they lost to Georgia Tech, 14-10.
The Hurricanes do not have the
dominating offense that we have come to know
in South Florida. Tyrone Moss took over the
starting running back job from Frank Gore, and
he was supposed to be the best Miami back since
Willis McGahee. Moss is out for the season though,
and the job now falls to Charlie Jones.
Sophomore quarterback, Kyle Wright
should find himself in a lot of passing situations,
and he has a number a good targets, led by wide
receiver Sinorice Moss, Santana’s little
brother. Wright played his best football late
in the season.
LSU went 10-2 on the year under
first year coach, Les Miles. They dropped the
second game of the season to Tennessee, then
reeled off nine wins in a row before losing
to Georgia, 34-14 in the SEC championship game.
The Georgia game was doubly devastating,
as quarterback JaMarcus Russell separated his
shoulder and will miss this game. Sophomore
quarterback, Matt Flynn has played in 24 games,
but has never started.
LSU needs to get running back
Joseph Addai going to take the pressure of a
Flynn. Addai averaged over 100 yards rushing
in his first six games, but struggled late in
the year with injuries. He should be back close
to 100% for this game.
The directors of the Peach Bowl
should be kissing the ground in thanks of the
great match up they have. In fact, this might
be the best bowl game of the entire schedule
except for USC / Texas and Ohio State / Notre
Dame.
If you are a fan of defensive
football, then you have come to the right place.
Both of these teams are ranked in the top 5
nationally in defense. This should also be a
close game as LSU has had half of their games
decided by four points or less. The selection
here is for LSU to keep the game within the
spread, even with their quarterback sidelined.
Pick: LSU
