Sportsbook.com - NFL: A Wild, Wild Card Weekend

                              NFL Football
                                Previews
The Seattle Seahawks received the matchup no
team wanted when they drew a game with the Washington
                                Redskins for this Saturday.
Wild Card weekend opens with the Redskins and
Seahawks kicking off at 4:30 pm EST. Playing
on their home field, the Seahawks opened as four-point favorites
but beating the Redskins won’t be easy.

The Redskins have been on a mission since the
passing of their safety, Sean Taylor. They’ve
won four games in a row to make the postseason
and they’re doing it behind the very unlikely
arm of backup quarterback Todd Collins.
                              These two teams
met in the playoffs two years ago in Seattle,
with the Seahawks winning 20-10. If Seattle
repeats that feat, they take on Brett Favre
and the Green Bay Packers. If Washington wins
this game, they’ll face their NFC
                                East foe, the Dallas Cowboys.
The Saturday night game (8:00 pm EST) features
                                Jacksonville (Even) on
the road in Pittsburgh. It’s not often
that a home team is not favored in the playoffs,
but there are some special circumstances here.
Jacksonville has the better record (11-5 vs.
10-6) and is only a Wild Card because they are
stuck in the same division as Indianapolis. The
Jaguars also beat the Steelers 29-22 in Pittsburgh
in Week 15. Both teams play a physical style
of football and this is the most exciting game
                                on the slate this weekend.
The NY Giants are getting 2 ½-points at
Tampa Bay this Sunday at 1:00 pm EST. The Giants
are coming off perhaps their best loss in team
history, giving the Patriots all they could handle
before finally succumbing last weekend. Even
though New York suffered a couple of key injuries
in that game, they are better off for playing
their starters as it gives them a lot of momentum
                                heading into this contest.
Tampa, on the other hand, has been on cruise
control since clinching the NFC South in Week
15 and have lost three out of their last four.
It will be interesting to see if the extra rest
helps them, or causes them to be a little rusty
                                at the outset.
The Sunday 4:30 pm EST game is San Diego (-8.5) hosting
Tennessee. The Chargers are feeling very confident
with their current six-game winning streak, although
they have done it with limited production from
                                their quarterback Philip Rivers.
                              Tennessee lost
a home game to San Diego in Week 14, 23-17
in overtime, and the big question is the status
of their quarterback Vince Young, Young injured
                                  his quadriceps in last Sunday’s
game versus Indianapolis. The Titans have a capable
backup in Kerry Collins but Young is expected
                                to recover in time.
                              If San Diego wins
                                  this game, they’ll face
Indianapolis in a very intriguing matchup. If
Tennessee pulls the upset, they get the pleasure
                                of traveling to New England.
                              The NFL playoffs
are finally here and that means it’s time for the “big boys” to
step up and lay their claim to an NFL Championship.
