                              You can toss away
all those National Football League playoff
scenarios now and concentrate on the actual
                                  playoffs – which get underway
on Saturday and Sunday with the Wild Card round.
Of course, the team favored to win this year’s
Super Bowl won’t be in action this weekend – and
NFL bettors know we’re talking about those
                                16-0 Patriots.
New England’s perfect mark gives them
a bye this week, and it also makes them the big
-180 favorite to win Super Bowl XLII. As well,
Tom Brady and company are pegged as the -275
favorite to win the AFC Championship Game. Those
aren’t very lucrative odds, but what can
you expect for a team that has toppled all comers
                                in the past four months.
                              The next three
teams on the Super Bowl odds list all have
byes this weekend as well – the
Indianapolis Colts, the Dallas Cowboys, and the
Green Bay Packers. Both the defending champions
and Tony Romo’s squad are at +500 odds
on that futures bet, while Brett Favre has his
Packers at +1000 to win the title. The Colts
are also at +350 odds to claim the AFC, with
the Cowboys (-175) and Packers (+225) the NFC
                                favorites.
                              So which of the
eight teams in action this weekend has the
best Super Bowl NFL odds at BetUS right now?
                                  That’s be the Jacksonville Jaguars,
who finished two games behind the Colts in the
AFC South but still tied for the third-most wins
in the conference. The Jags, who take on the
Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend, are listed
with +1400 title odds. As for Jacksonville’s
                                conference championship line, that’s currently
                                pegged at just +900.
                              Next up are LaDainian
                                  Tomlinson’s San
Diego Chargers, who ride into the postseason
on a six-game winning streak (second longest
in the league). The 11-5 Chargers, who will play
the Tennessee Titans this weekend, are listed
with +1800 odds to win Super Bowl XLII. San Diego
is also slightly behind Jacksonville with +1000
                                conference odds.
                              The Steelers won
the AFC North on a tiebreaker with the Cleveland
Browns, but the loss of star running back Willie
Parker could cause serious problems for their
                                  offense. That’s put
the Steelers, who are actually at home against
Jacksonville this weekend, only at +3000 odds
to win the Super Bowl, and +1400 odds to take
                                home the AFC title.
                              The Titans are
hoping that Vince Young is fully healthy for
their game against San Diego this weekend,
but the oddsmakers have largely written them
off as Super Bowl contenders. Tennessee has
the worst odds of all 12 postseason teams to
win this year’s championship at +10000,
and they’re also pegged at a longshot +5500
                                to win the AFC.
Over in the NFC the Cowboys and Packers are
followed by the Seattle Seahawks, who cruised
to the NFC West title and are pegged at +3000
Super Bowl odds. Matt Hasselbeck and company
are also third on the NFC Championship odds chart
                                at +800.
                              The Tampa Bay Buccaneers
were the other NFC division champion, but they’re farther
back at +5000 odds to win this year’s Super
Bowl. The conference’s two Wild Card teams,
the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins,
are both pegged at +6000 to win the big one.
Conference title odds: Bucs (+1400), Giants (+1800),
                                Skins (+2000).
                              Washington clinched
                                  the NFC’s final playoff
berth in Week 17, and they’re pegged as
3-point road underdogs against Seattle this weekend.
The Giants are also a 3-point road underdog in
their game against Tampa Bay. San Diego is the
biggest favorite of the weekend at 9.5 points
at home, while the Jaguars are the only road
                                favorite (2.5 points).
