The NFL playoffs are fast approaching and Sportsbook.com
has released some odds on whether certain teams
will make the postseason.
Here is some data
to consider as we examine eight “bubble teams.” Note,
odds to make the NFL playoffs are listed in
parenthesis.
The NFC
Arizona Cardinals (Yes +1,200, No -2,000)
Arizona is one
of four 6-7 NFC teams to go along with New
Orleans, Detroit and Washington. The Cardinals
have a huge game this week at New Orleans as
3.5-point dogs. After that, it’s two
easy games at home versus Atlanta and St. Louis.
Minnesota Vikings (Yes -600, No +400)
Minnesota is just 7-6 but that puts them as
the favorite for the second NFL Wild Card. The
Vikings host Chicago on Monday Night Football
as 10-point favorites and then are home to Washington
before traveling to Denver.
New Orleans Saints (Yes +350, No -500)
New Orleans’ big game against Arizona
this week was already mentioned above. The Saints
then end the 2007 campaign with a home game against
Philadelphia, and at Chicago. That means there’s
a good chance they finish the season at 9-7.
New York Giants (Yes -10,000, No +2,500)
The Giants (9-4)
need a win as 4 ½-point
favorites this week versus Washington to clinch
a playoff berth. New York really wants to clinch
this week because their last two games are at
snowy Buffalo and home to the undefeated Patriots.
The AFC
Buffalo Bills (Yes +600, No -1,000)
Buffalo (7-6) has
a crucial game at Cleveland this week as 5 ½-point dogs. After that,
it’s home against the Giants and at Philadelphia.
The Giants’ game might not be that tough
as the “G-Man” could have already
clinched their NFC Wild Card spot.
Cleveland Browns (Yes -400, No +300)
Cleveland (8-5)
needs to beat Buffalo at home and then they
have two very winnable games, one in Cincinnati,
the other at home against San Francisco. Browns’ fans
are already getting excited about going to
the playoffs and for good reason.
Jacksonville Jaguars (Yes -20,000, No +5,000)
Jacksonville is
9-4 and looking like a shoo-in to make the
playoffs, thus the heavy odds in their favor.
The Jaguars have a tough game in Pittsburgh
this week as 3 ½-point dogs,
but then have a home game against Oakland and
a road contest at Houston.
Tennessee Titans (Yes +600, No -1,000)
The Titans (7-6)
need to win at Kansas City this week as four-point
favorites, and then get the very beatable Jets
at home. Their last game of the year is at
Indianapolis, but the Colts will likely be
resting their starters as they’ll
likely have nothing to play for.
