Revenge will be on the minds of the Rutgers
Scarlet Knights when West Virginia comes to town.
Last year, the Mountaineers ended Rutgers hopes
for a Big East title, but now the roles are reversed.
Rutgers managed to a huge upset over South Florida,
a team that beat West Virginia earlier this season.
Can they keep the upsets going?
#7 West Virginia (6-1) vs. Rutgers Scarlet Nights
(5-2)
Saturday, October 27th --- Rutgers Stadium,
Piscataway --- 12:00pm EST
Opening NCAA football line: West Virginia -7

Pat White and Steve Slaton spearhead an offense
that torches the scoreboard for 42.1 points per
game while rushing for a staggering 304.1 yards
per game. Rutgers has speed on the edges to get
to the quarterback, but are vulnerable to the
run. They give up 135.7 yards per game.
Mike Teel certainly
has the ability to move the chains, but the
fate of this game lies in Ray Rice’s
powerful legs. Can the Heisman candidate, who
has 142.7 yards per game, continue his rampage
through opponents? In the last two games he
has a combined 377 yards.
Fact is that West
Virginia has the weapons to seriously expose
this defense because of their blazingly fast
quarterback. But the savvy betting investor
will take Rutgers with the points because they
have learned from last year’s showdown
that went to three overtimes. The ball will be
in Rice’s capable hands, keeping White
off the field and leading to another Rutgers
upset.

#11 Florida Gators (5-2) vs. #18 Georgia Bulldogs
(5-2)
Saturday, October 27th --- Alltel Stadium, Jacksonville
--- 3:30pm EST
Opening NCAA football line: Florida -9 (55.5)
A home game for
Georgia in Florida? That sounds fair. A home
game for Georgia in Tim Tebow’s
hometown? Ouch. This does not look like a game
that Georgia can possibly win. Are there potential
ingredients for an upset in this matchup?
Georgia gives up
137.7 yards on the ground, and the Gators excel
at exposing rushing defenses by using Tebow
on the run. Watching Tebow run the football
reminds me of playing with Michael Vick in
Madden 2008, if Vick didn’t fumble
the ball so easily. It’s simply unfair.
The Gators average a whopping 40.4 points per
game and pass for 248.0 yards per game as well.
Georgia barely
beats good teams in the nation. They squeezed
out three-point wins against Alabama and Vanderbilt,
but were crushed when it came to a team like
Tennessee that can throw the ball. Florida’s Tebow will skewer this slow secondary
en route to a Florida blowout. Bet safely and
happily on the “road favorites” in
this one.

#21 California Golden Bears (5-2) vs. #4 Arizona
State (7-0)
Saturday, October 27th --- Sun Devil Stadium,
Tempe --- 10:00pm EST
Opening NCAA football line: Arizona State -3
(60)
Finally! Arizona
State has been posing as a BCS contender for
far too long. Fine, it’s
only been two weeks, but that’s still too
long for my liking. I hate pretenders, and the
Golden Bears are a team that deserves a big bump.
Destroying the No.4 Sun Devils would be a fine
addition to a slightly tattered California resume.
Rudy Carpenter does not have a good history against
California, and that may rattle him in this matchup.
Cal is 4-0 SU in
the last four games against Arizona State.
Their matchup a year ago ended in a 49-21 thrashing.
The Bears simply need to crush the Sun Devils
after two narrow defeats to UCLA and Oregon
State. The biggest hole is in Arizona State’s
pass defense which allows 213.1 yards per game.
Cal averages 237.6 passing yards per game behind
Nate Longshore, who will need to cleanup his
interception ratio for Cal to have success
in this game.
Arizona State leads California in every single
important statistic on the stat sheet, but look
at their opponents. San Diego State? Washington?
Washington State? Give me a break. The Bears
are reeling but had a bye week to get things
together and prep for this game. Arizona will
be in for the fight of its life, and it simply
does not have the talent to keep up with a real
BCS contender like California.
