#1 Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Michigan State
Score: Ohio State 24-17
Week 8 BCS: #1
The Buckeyes avoided a repeat of the 1998 comeback
shocker against the Spartans last Saturday. The
defense held the Spartans to a field goal with
3:42 left, which could spelled disaster for the
top-ranked Buckeyes. The Buckeyes remain undefeated,
but are only 4-3 ATS on the year.
Next game: Ohio State (-3.5) vs. Penn State
#2 South Florida vs. Rutgers
Score: Rutgers 30-27
Week 8 BCS: #10
Jeremy “The Judge” Ito
once again vanquished a top-3 team for the
second year in a row on Thursday night. South
Florida simply cannot survive a loss like this
and has tumbled to No.10 in the BCS because
of it. Both Rutgers and South Florida are young
programs, but 2007 was simply not their year.
The Bulls hit the road against Connecticut
this weekend and are road favorites.
Next game: South Florida (-5.5) vs. Connecticut
#3 Boston College vs. IDLE
Score: n/a
Week 8 BCS: #2
Boston College
was the big winner of South Florida’s
loss. They moved up to #2 in the BCS Standings,
but face a stiff challenge as road dogs in Lane
Stadium this weekend. They will challenge a feisty
6-1 Virginia Tech Hokies team that is 2-4 ATS,
but the Eagles are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games
on the road.
Next game: Boston College vs. Virginia Tech
(-3.5)
#4 LSU vs. #17 Auburn
Score: LSU 30-24
Week 8 BCS: #3 LSU, #22 Auburn
LSU needed some last-second heroics to beat
an upstart Auburn team. Matt Flynn connected
with Demetrius Byrd on a 22-yard bomb that clinched
it for LSU with one second left. LSU is rightfully
behind Boston College at No.3 in the BCS Standings.
They get the week off next week to get some much
needed rest.
Next game: BYE WEEK
#5 Oklahoma vs. Iowa State
Score: Oklahoma 17-7
Week 8 BCS: #6
The last time freshman Sam Bradford played this
poorly, the Sooners suffered their first loss.
This time, they found a way to win behind a sharp
defense and a strong running game. Oklahoma gets
a bye this week, and needs to finish off the
season strong. The BCS will not look kindly on
a team that relies so heavily on a freshman quarterback.
Next game: BYE WEEK
#6 South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt
Score: Vanderbilt 17-6
Week 8 BCS: #16
The Commodores
staged a massive upset over Steve Spurrier,
defeating him for the first time ever and knocking
off their highest-ranked opponent in 70 years.
South Carolina has crashed down to No.16 in
the BCS and things don’t get
any easier as the 4-3 ATS Gamecocks travel as
road dogs to Neyland Stadium to take on the Tennessee
Volunteers. Spurrier’s boys are 8-2 SU
in their last 10 road games.
Next game: South Carolina vs. Tennessee (-3)
#7 Kentucky vs. #15 Florida
Score: Florida 45-37
Week 8 BCS: #11 Florida, #14 Kentucky
Tim Tebow and Andre
Woodson put on a dazzling display as Florida
regained its footing at Kentucky’s
expense. Tebow had 256 passing yards and four
scores and added 78 yards and a rushing touchdown
in the victory. The 4-2 ATS Gators return home
to face Georgia as heavy favorites.
Next game: Georgia vs. Florida (-9)
#8 Arizona State vs. Idle
Score: n/a
Week 8 BCS: #4
Arizona State beat the hell out of the bye week
and climbed the ladder to No.4 in the BCS Standings
for Week 8. Nobody is talking about the Sun Devils
because nobody believes they deserve to be up
here. A loss against the Golden Bears this weekend
will put them where they belong. California is
5-1 ATS and SU against Arizona State in their
last 6.
Next game: California vs. Arizona State (-3)
#9 West Virginia vs. Mississippi State
Score: West Virginia 38-13
Week 8 BCs: #7
The Mountaineers stomped another mud hole in
Mississippi State with a 25-point victory. Now
they hit the road to face those Jersey upstarts
at Rutgers. Thankfully, Rutgers is 0-10 SU against
the Mountaineers but the last time these two
played, West Virginia narrowly escaped with a
41-39 victory. Rutgers is 4-2 ATS and coming
off a huge win against the South Florida Bulls.

Next game: West Virginia (-7) vs. Rutgers
#10 Oregon vs. Washington
Score: Oregon 55-34
Week 8 BCS: #5
Oregon forgot they were a high-flying, passing
offense and hit the ground running with 465 rushing
yards on the day against Washington. They climbed
all the way up to No.5 in the BCS standings because
of it and remained loved by their betting faithful
for going 6-1 ATS. But now they face the USC
Trojans coming off a bye week. Bet on fireworks
(and the Ducks).
Next week: USC vs. Oregon (-3.5)
