NCAAF Betting: Hokies (+1.5) vs. Yellowjackets (-1.5)

An interesting
thing happened in the 4th quarter in the Hokies’ last
Thursday night game. A fella named Matt Ryan,
from Boston College, went nuts and brought
his team back from a ten point deficit in the
last three minutes. Man that was something!
How will that affect
Virginia Tech in their game versus Georgia
Tech? It won’t.
First, this should be a defensive struggle as
both Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech boast very
good defenses. The Hokies kept BC out of the
end-zone for almost their entire game last week
while Georgia Tech can shut-down teams at times.
I say at times
because the Yellowjackets are just too inconsistent
for my liking. When they get the run game going,
they are very tough, but without former stud
Calvin Johnson at wide receiver, the Jackets’ QB,
Taylor Bennett, has had trouble finding receivers.
The Hokies happen
to be very good against the run and that means
that will probably win this game outright.
There’s also a trend to
keep in mind:
The Virginia Tech
Hokies are 12 – 3 against
the spread in their last 15 road game.
The NCAA football spread in this game is almost
even and by game time I expect it to be even.
That means that the Hokies are an excellent wager
to bounce back from their fourth quarter debacle
versus the BC Eagles.
Tyrod Taylor may
be healthy enough to play QB for Virginia Tech,
but if he can’t go,
then Sean Glennon proved last week against BC
that he at least won’t make stupid mistakes
against a good defense.
Georgia Tech, meanwhile, has given up 28 points
to Maryland and 28 points to Virginia this year.
Neither one of those teams is on par with Virginia
Tech. So, I expect either Glennon or Taylor to
exploit that Yellowjackets defense in this one
with a few long throws.
14 points will be all that the Hokies need to
secure this game. The BetUS college football
line is Virginia Tech + 1.5 against the spread
on the road versus the Georgia Yellowjackets.
Take the Hokies in this one.
