Week Three NFL Betting - Colts at Texans

Articles
For the first time in their history, the Texans are undefeated going into Week Three of the season.
The front office, for the first time in team
history also, is looking like they used their
brains to make the team better in the offseason.
New quarterback Matt Schaub, brought over in
a trade with Atlanta, is proving himself to be
even better than many of us football betting
handicappers had predicted.
INDIANAPOLIS –7
@ HOUSTON +7
Amongst all NFL quarterbacks who have started
both games this year, Schaub ranks second to
none other than Tom Brady in completing a whopping
72% of his passes. His 111.4 rating places him
higher than such luminaries as Carson Palmer
and Mr. Commercial himself, Peyton Manning.
Of course, we will have to see how things pan
out with the knee injury to #1 receiver Andre
Johnson, but Coach Kubiak is a smart man who
should be able to figure out a system that gives
his other receivers a chance to shine. The injury
is, of course, pushing the line higher than it
would otherwise be, but injuries in the NFL are
very often less affecting to teams than we believe.
These guys are all pros for a reason.
The early line
on this game came out at –5
and has jumped up to –7 in favor of the
Colts, who lost 27-24 in Houston on Christmas
Eve last season in a game they needed to win
to get a first-round playoff bye. This year,
Houston is a much-improved team on both sides
of the ball.
Of course, one could also argue that the Colts
are a much-improved team, at least defensively,
as well.
The early NFL betting total line on this game
sits at 48 points, but I would be very surprised
if this game became much of a shootout. The Colts
are only allowing an average of 15 points per
game and the Texans are allowing just 12 points
against. It is starting to look like last year
when Indy was often times doing just enough to
beat their opponents, as opposed to years past,
when they blew many teams out of the water.
Houston is bound to be about as psyched as possible
for this game against the defending champs and
you should fully expect them to at least stay
in the game. That being said, the Texans will
have to get a few lucky breaks to beat the Colts
this year, especially when Indy knows full well
that any loss could put them behind the Patriots
in the race for home-field advantage.
