NCAA Football Betting – BCS
Standings Analysis, Week 11
1. LSU Tigers (9-1)
The Tigers return
to the top of the mountain after slaying Louisiana
Tech 58-10 by scoring in double digits during
every single quarter. Despite their winning
ways, they have been teetering on the betting
line by going 4-5-1 ATS on the season. Mississippi,
historically, has given LSU fits and LSU is
2-8 ATS against them. Despite that, they should
walk out with the win, but they can’t
get caught with their eyes of their shoulders
while the Ducks press hard behind them.
Next game: LSU (-18) vs. Mississippi
2. Oregon Ducks (8-1)
Dennis Dixon and the Ducks are sitting pretty
at number two and have the easiest schedule heading
out.
They play three
unranked opponents in Arizona, UCLA and Oregon
State to close out the season. Those games
should be easy wins, but the Ducks have to
set the scoreboard ablaze to get the attention
of the voters. Still, Oregon remains a bettor’s
best friend by going 8-1 ATS on the season.
Their betting faithful should stick by them.
Next game: Oregon (-13.5) vs. Arizona
3. Kansas Jayhawks (10-0)
The last, relevant undefeated team in Division
I-A (no offense, Hawaii) keeps on winning, and
in a huge way. They have outscored their opponents
119-67 in the last two games, while going 4-1
ATS in their last 5 games. The tilt against Missouri
in two weeks looms on the schedule, but those
betting on Kansas to lose better not hold their
breath.
Next game: Iowa State vs. Kansas (-25.5)
4. Oklahoma Sooners (9-1)
The Sooners have
one of the most dangerous closing schedules
amongst teams in the top-10, but it could give
them the chance to get the attention from voters
that they desire. Behind Sam Bradford’s
canon, the Sooners have outscored their opponents
by 28.2 points per game but, somehow, remain
1-5 ATS in their last six games. They own the
matchup against Tech with an 8-2 SU record in
their last ten meetings, but Oklahoma must contend
with Texas and Missouri in the coming weeks as
well.
Next game: Oklahoma (-9.5) vs. Texas Tech
5. Missouri Tigers (9-1)
The Chase continues! Their remaining schedule
has them facing Kansas State and Kansas, but
their schedule throughout the year has not been
that impressive. Still, if they find themselves
in the Big 12 championship game, the Tigers can
make some serious noise in the BCS standings.
Missouri is 7-2 ATS this season and must prove
that they are a new team against Kansas State
this weekend. They are 1-9 SU against the Wildcats.
Next game: Missouri (-8) vs. Kansas State
6. West Virginia Mountaineers (8-1)
Pat White continues to use his heroic footwork
to win games and keep the Mountaineers in the
national spotlight. White ran for 147 rush yards
and a game winning score against an upstart Louisville
team in a 38-31 victory. They hit the road as
favorites against the two-loss Bearcats that
is much tougher than you might think. Cincinnati
has two wins over Connecticut and South Florida
and have a massive upset team this season. The
Mountaineers better keep their wits about them.
Next game: West Virginia (-7) vs. Cincinnati
7. Ohio State Buckeyes (10-1)
No team tumbled farther than the Buckeyes this
week. After a stunning lost to Illinois, the
Buckeyes have fallen out of favor with the computers
and the voters. Todd Boeckman put a nail in his
Heisman chances by throwing only 156 yards and
three devastating picks in the game.
They have one more game against Michigan, and
certainly did not help their chances that Michigan
also lost last weekend. Still, it should be a
game that Ohio will be looking to make a massive
statement with. They are 6-4 SU against Michigan,
and weaseled out a three-point victory last season.
It will be hard to bet against Michael Hart in
his final game, so keep your ear to the BetUS.com
locker room for updates on the game as the week
goes on.
Next game: Ohio State vs. Michigan
8. Arizona State Sun Devils (9-1)
Don’t even get me started. The Sun Devils
can launch back in to the picture if they can
somehow topple USC in two weeks, but the only
team warranting any serious attention is Oregon,
and the Sun Devils chances went out the window
after they lost to Dixon and Ducks a few weeks
back. We’ll have much more on their matchup
against USC next week.
Next game: USC vs. Arizona State (11/22)
9. Georgia Bulldogs (8-2)
Things keep getting worse for Kentucky, as they
get better for Georgia. The Bulldogs climbed
in to the top-10 and can cement their foot holding
by continuing to have success against the Wildcats.
The 5-4 ATS Dawgs are 9-1 SU against Kentucky.
Georgia simply lacks the schedule to warrant
tremendous attention in the BCS standings, but
a big win over Kentucky would certainly help.
Next game: Kentucky vs. Georgia (-8)
10. Virginia Tech Hokies (8-2)
The Hokies have overcome some roadblocks to
go 4-1 ATS in their last five games while managing
a 7-1 SU record in their last eight matches.
Miami has always raised the level when they play
Virginia, so the Hokies might be in for a rough
one this weekend. They need to keep winning,
and praying for some luck, to climb higher in
the standings.
Next game: Miami vs. Virginia Tech (-17)
