NCAA Football Betting – BCS
Standings Analysis, Week 10
The Arizona Sun Devils finally lost a game and
dropped out of the top-8 in the BCS Standings.
But another team lost on Saturday, meaning that
the standings went through another shakedown.
BetUS.com is here to break down the new standings
for the betting community.
1. Ohio State Buckeyes (10-0)
Ohio State continues
to be steamroll the nation and reward their
betting faithful. They covered the spread against
Wisconsin with a decisive 38-17 victory and
kept their wining streak in the Big Ten alive
and ticking with 20 consecutive victories.
The Fighting Illini are next, and Ohio State
hasn’t forgotten that this team
gave them a run for their money last weekend.
Will they give you a run for yours?
Next game: Illinois vs. Ohio State (-14.5)
2. LSU Tigers (8-1)
Alabama was right in it until the very end,
when the LSU defense came up with a huge turnover
by Chad Jones who forced John Parker Wilson to
fumble on the Alabama four-yard line. They climbed
to number-two in the nation and are deserving
of this ranking. They get to beat up Louisiana
Tech this weekend, but that seems like a massive
spread.
Next game: Louisiana Tech vs. LSU (-37)
3. Oregon Ducks (8-1)
Dennis Dixon and
the Ducks did the nation a massive favor by
knocking Arizona State back down the mountain.
Dixon showed off his passing prowess by tossing
4 touchdowns, including two to open the first
quarter that set the tempo for the high-flying
Ducks. They get a week off to bask in their
own awesomeness, while reveling the fact that
a one-loss Pac-10 team will get a lot of BCS
lovin’.
Next game: BYE WEEK
4. Kansas Jayhawks (9-0)
Kansas made the scoreboard look like it was
covering a basketball game when they dropped
76 points on Nebraska. Todd Reesing threw for
354 impressive passing yards and capped off the
game with 6 touchdowns. The Jayhawks amassed
a whopping 572 total yards on Nebraska. Still,
their betting faithful have to be concerned that
Nebraska was able to post 484 yards on them.
Next game: Kansas (-5.5) vs. Oklahoma State
5. Oklahoma Sooners (8-1)
Sam Bradford returned
to the Heisman conversation by going 21-of-30
with 284 yards and 5 touchdowns with zero picks
against Texas A&M. But this
game was highlighted by the defense, which held
the feared rushing attack of A&M to 128 yards,
after they had been averaging 239.4 per game.
Next game: Baylor vs. Oklahoma (-37)
6. Missouri Tigers (8-1)
The Chase is on! Was I the first to say that?
I hope so. Anyways, the Missouri Tigers proved
they belonged in the conversation after gutting
a Colorado team that had been making a habit
out of upsetting big teams. With 421 yards, 5
touchdowns and a single pick, Chase Daniels not
only boosted his Heisman resume he pushed the
Missouri Tigers in to the BCS picture. They rise
three spots from ninth.
Next game: Texas
A&M vs. Missouri (-17.5)
7. West Virginia Mountaineers (7-1)
The Mountaineers sit pretty after demolishing
Rutgers two weeks ago. Next they get to beat
up on listless Louisville, who play like they
have already given up this season. The Mountaineers
are averaging 40.8 points and quarterback Pat
White gets to slice up the Cardinals Swiss cheese
defense.
Next game: Louisville vs. West Virginia (-17.5)
8. Boston College (8-1)
The tea party in
Boston is not over, despite the gut wrenching
defeat by Florida State. Whoever saw that coming
is either a genius, or a damn liar. Matt Ryan
threw for 415 yards and two scores, but had
three huge picks, including one that iced the
game at 27-17. BC’s schedule is
relatively light the rest of the way out so their
national title hopes are six feet under this
season.
Next game: Boston College (-5.5) vs. Maryland
THE CLIMBERS
10. Georgia Bulldogs (7-2)
Georgia’s freshman tailback, Knowshon
Moreno, terrorized Troy this weekend and ran
for 196 yards and three scores, including a game
winning 80 yard sprint. Considering the strength
of Georgia’s schedule, do not be surprised
if they climb towards the peak when Missouri
stumbles. And nothing would boost these Under-Dawgs
more than a victory over Auburn this weekend.
Next game: Auburn (-1) vs. Georgia
12. Michigan Wolverines (8-2)
And here comes
Mr. At-Large-Bid himself. When Chad Henne piloted
the Wolverines to two touchdown drives within
seven minutes to catch-up with the Michigan
State Spartans, the Wolverines lividly announced
that they will not go quietly in to the night.
They hit the road to face a very strong Wisconsin
team before playing Ohio State in the final
week of the season. If they wanted an invitation
to the party, there’s no better way to
crash it than by toppling the King of the mountain.
Next game: Michigan (-3) vs. Wisconsin
