Week Three NFL Odds - Chargers at Packers

This is going to be an interesting game for
those of us who bet on NFL games for a few reasons,
not the least of which is the fact that this
game is where Norv Turner needs to show that
he is the right man to be leading the Chargers and the offense he installed a few years ago
in. Some people believe that Turner is a great
offensive mind, but that the details of being
a head coach are simply too much for him. His
record as the man at the helm backs up that line
of thinking.
NFL Betting Line:
San Diego Chargers –4
@ Green Bay +4
After being thoroughly embarrassed in New England
last week, the Chargers have a short week to
prepare. They arrived back in San Diego in the
wee hours of Monday morning and they must fly
back East again on Saturday to be ready for this
early game in Wisconsin against a Packers team
that is on a six-game winning streak.
Both Green Bay and San Diego have been equally
horrible at running the ball this season, just
one yard shy of tying for the worst rushing attack
in the NFL. This was expected from Green Bay
as they seemingly had no backfield when the season
started, but the Chargers have LaDainian Tomlinson.
All the 2006 NFL MVP did was smash the record
for most touchdowns in a season last year by
a running back and is on his way to breaking
countless other rushing records.
While Green Bay’s
offense, however, is getting better, San Diego
has not been able to get anything going. Last
game, Brett Favre had seven receivers with
multiple catches. Even the Browns/Bengals game
last week only had seven receivers with multiple
catches and that was a record-setting offensive
aerial assault featuring over 725 yards of
passing.
San Diego is disillusioned
and they are going to be tired for this game,
while the Pack is relaxed and feeling like
they haven’t felt
as a team for years. Getting no respect at home,
the Packers are going to be on a tear this coming
Sunday and their offense is wide open enough
for them to pull off the upset.
Four-point home dogs are always something bettors
should be licking their chops to throw down a
nice chunk of change on. Betting on NFL teams
at home, on a six-game winning streak, and getting
four points against a team that has lost two
of its last three games is something that should
even get a few people who do not bet on football
thinking about doing it.
If San Diego does end up winning this game,
it will be thanks to a few lucky bounces and
it will not be by more than a field goal. Take
the Pack at Lambeau.
