The burning question for football betting investors
here is how Jake Delhomme will handle David Carr
looking over his shoulder. Delhomme has seen
his production drop in recent seasons, and the
league widely believes that Carr still has the
tools to succeed at quarterback given his age.
The offense in Carolina is loaded with talent.
Dwayne Jarrett fills the shoes of recently retired
Keyshawn Johnson, and will have to step in immediately
to compliment Steve Smith, one of the best receivers
in the business.

and DeShaun Foster did an excellent job of

for Carr to emerge as the starter in Carolina?
Delhomme is a fiery competitor, but his numbers
are starting to dwindle. With someone looking
over his shoulder, something he has never had
to deal with, Delhomme will probably crumble
under the pressure and lose his starting job
by Week Three.
If that happens, Carr
could be the Panthers’ quarterback
of the future. On a good team, Carr has the skill
set to be efficient and accurate. The Panthers
are a good team, and if given the chance to strut,
Carr could be in the driver’s seat early
on.
That tension, however, may also rip this team
apart - which is reason to be cautious. With
their low NFL odds, and the Saints likely to
repeat, it might be a gamble worth looking a
little closer at.
