NFL Betting: Re-Cap Weekend Analysis

After what was sort of sad weekend where some
games were okay, others were just plain bad,
I am happy to report that there are a number
of games this weekend that look very solid when
it comes to betting on NFL.
I’ll have an article later this Friday
or Saturday that describes my best Sunday pick.
Today’s article will go over some of the
things I noticed this past Sunday and Monday
and then go into some of the games this coming
weekend.
The first team that really caught my eye was
the Pittsburgh Steelers. They had to cover 4.5
points versus the Cincinnati Bengals and did
so easily beating the Bengals by 11 points.
The Steelers played
a very smart defensive game against one of
the better offenses in the NFL. That’s what caught my eye and that’s
why they are a BetUS – 9.5 against the
spread points this Monday night at home versus
the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens are coming off
of a bye, but there is infighting in the Ravens
camp. Stud line-backer Ray Lewis has been talking
trash about Coach Brian Billick’s play-calling.
No matter. The total points listed for this game
is 36. So, the thinking must be that the Steelers
score 26 and the Raven’s score 10? I don’t
believe that the Ravens give up 26 points to
the Steelers. This will be a close game with
the Steelers winning by about a field goal or
touchdown.
The Green Bay Packers
caught my eye on Monday because they went into
a hostile environment and shut down that team’s offense. The
old man, Brett Favre, also played very well.
Forget it. This guy is going to play well the
entire year. Hmm…I haven’t read
anything about Favre being washed up and deserving
to go the way of the NFL dodo-bird. Good. I like
Favre.
Green Bay gets to play Kansas City on the road
where, believe it or not, they are getting 2.5
BetUS points against the spread. Favre will exploit
the young safeties and old cornerbacks for the
Chiefs.
The team that Green
Bay beat Monday night, the Denver Broncos,
is your classic up and down NFL team. They
beat Pittsburgh and then lose to Green Bay.
They play the Detroit Lions this weekend. The
BetUS line is Denver + 3 on the road against
the spread versus Detroit. Detroit’s defense
has been playing very well lately. Denver’s
offense is atrocious. This is a tough won. I
say Detroit covers but only because I have to
pick someone to wager on.
The Dallas Cowboys are coming off of a bye and
giving up 4.5 BetUS points on the road to the
Philadelphia Eagles. This is the Sunday night
game and I have to side with the Eagles. They
are home, they hate Dallas, and they have McNabb
who I still believe is a better quarterback,
at the end of the day, than Tony Romo.
Check out my column
regarding the Patriots and Colts. Let’s
just say that my mind has me thinking of four-legged
animals - - hint, hint!!
No David Garrard
for the Jacksonville Jaguars means the New
Orleans Saints giving up 4 BetUS points at
home versus the Jags is a gift. The Saints
have really turned things around. Yes, they’ve beaten up on pretty bad teams the
past two weekends, and beat a down Seattle Seahawks
squad three weeks ago, but they’ve shut
down two very good running backs in the process,
Shaun Alexander for the Seahawks and Frank Gore
for the 49’ers.
New Orleans will stack the box versus the Jags,
get pressure on Jags back-up quarterback, Quinn
Gray, and blow the Jags out of the Superdome.
Check out my special NFL betting trend article
and then my pick of the week both coming up later
this week!
Until then, good luck!
