My Sportsbook - National Football League Game Capsules

by: MySportsbook.com

Final Score: Tampa Bay 31, Atlanta 7

Atlanta, GA (My Sportsbook) - Jeff Garcia completed 10-of-20 passes for 159 yards with two touchdowns to guide Tampa Bay past the Atlanta Falcons, 31-7, at the Georgia Dome. Earnest Graham rushed for 102 yards on 17 carries with one touchdown for Tampa Bay (6-4), which has won two straight since losing three of four. Joey Galloway caught two passes for 63 yards, including a 44- yard touchdown for the NFC South Division leaders. The Buccaneers defense forced four turnovers. Byron Leftwich completed 15-of-28 passes for 106 yards and two picks for the Falcons (3-7), who had their two-game winning streak broken. Joey Harrington replaced the ineffective Leftwich in the third quarter and finished the game with 139 yards on 16-of-20 passing and one touchdown. Warrick Dunn caught eight passes for 40 yards and collected only 32 yards on the ground. Michael Jenkins had nine receptions for 73 yards in the loss.

Final Score: Cleveland 33, Baltimore 30 (OT)

Baltimore, MD (My Sportsbook) - Phil Dawson sent the game into overtime with a controversial field goal and then won it for Cleveland in the extra session with a 33-yarder, as the Browns edged Baltimore, 33-30, at M&T Bank Stadium. Shortly after Matt Stover put Baltimore up 30-27 with just 26 seconds left, Cleveland quickly marched down the field and Dawson drilled a 51-yarder that hit off the left upright, then the extension behind the crossbar, and onto the field. The referees originally ruled the kick no good, but after a lengthy review, properly reversed the call. Cleveland won the coin toss in OT and elected to receive. An 18-yard pass to Kellen Winslow put the Browns on the 30-yard line and after four running plays, Dawson came out on third down and won it with a 33-yarder that split the uprights. Former Raven Jamal Lewis ran for 92 yards with a touchdown for the Browns (6-4), who have four wins in their last five games. Lewis, playing in Baltimore for the first time since leaving the team, added four catches for 30 yards. Derek Anderson completed 24-of-38 passes for 274 yards with a rushing touchdown and interception in the victory while Braylon Edwards had eight catches for 85 yards. Kyle Boller completed 22-of-41 passes for 279 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions for the Ravens (4-6), who have lost four straight Devard Darling hauled in four passes for 107 yards with a score while Willis McGahee racked up 102 yards on the ground with a touchdown for Baltimore, which scored 16 points in the fourth quarter to get back into the contest.

Final Score: Arizona 35, Cincinnati 27

Cincinnati, OH (My Sportsbook) - Antrel Rolle had three interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns, as the Arizona Cardinals fended off the Cincinnati Bengals, 35-27, at Paul Brown Stadium. Rolle's third pick of the day came in the closing moments to seal the win, and nearly put him in the record books. The first-round pick out of Miami took Carson Palmer's errant pass and sprinted into the end zone, seemingly giving him an NFL-high three TD interception returns in one game. Antonio Smith was whistled for a personal foul on the return, however, to nullify the score. Nevertheless, the Cardinals (5-5) picked up their second straight win to stay in the hunt in the NFC West. Kurt Warner went 16-of-28 for 211 yards with a pair of touchdown tosses in a winning effort. Palmer ended 37-of-52 for 329 yards with a career-high four interceptions to two touchdown passes for Cincinnati (3-7), which has dropped three of four.

Final Score: NY Giants 16, Detroit 10

Detroit, MI (My Sportsbook) - Eli Manning completed 28-of-39 passes for 283 yards and a touchdown, as the New York Giants slipped by Detroit, 16-10, at Ford Field. Jeremy Shockey had five receptions for 41 yards for the Giants (7-3), who have won seven of their last eight and host Minnesota next Sunday. Brandon Jacobs rushed for 54 yards on 11 carries and caught four balls for 49 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game late in the third quarter with a hamstring injury. Michael Strahan was a defensive force, credited with three sacks, while Gibril Wilson, James Butler and Sam Madison recorded picks. The defense suffered a big loss, however, as newly converted linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka was lost on the second play of the game with a broken left leg. Jon Kitna was 28-of-43 for 377 yards, one TD and three interceptions for the Lions (6-4), who have dropped two in a row and host Green Bay on Thanksgiving. Shaun McDonald led the receiving corps with 113 yards on seven receptions and Roy Williams added six catches for 106 yards. Calvin Johnson registered Detroit's only touchdown in defeat.

Final Score: Green Bay 31, Carolina 17

Green Bay, WI (My Sportsbook) - Brett Favre continued his magnificent season, completing 22-of-30 passes for 218 yards and three touchdowns, as Green Bay rolled past Carolina, 31-17, Lambeau Field. Donald Lee caught five passes for 49 yards with two touchdowns for the NFC North Division leading Packers (9-1), who have won five straight and an impressive 13 of their last 14 games dating back to last season. Donald Driver had five receptions for 83 yards while Ryan Grant ran for 88 yards in the victory for Green Bay, which is 9-1 for the first time since 1962. Vinny Testaverde got the start behind center and threw for 258 yards on 19- of-37 passing with two touchdowns and a pair of interceptions for the struggling Panthers (4-6), who have lost four straight. Testaverde and Favre became the oldest starting quarterback duo in a game in NFL history at a combined 82 years, 44 days. DeShaun Foster had 87 yards rushing on 20 carries for Carolina, which played without star wide receiver Steve Smith as he missed the game with a shin contusion. Drew Carter led the Panthers in receiving with 132 yards and a touchdown on five catches.

Final Score: Houston 23, New Orleans 10

Houston, TX (My Sportsbook) - Matt Schaub completed 21-of-33 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns, and the Houston Texans downed the New Orleans Saints, 23-10. Schaub returned to the field for the Texans after missing a week with a concussion. Andre Johnson had six catches for 120 yards and a touchdown for the Texans (5-5), who have won two straight after dropping three in a row. Ron Dayne gained 89 yards on 21 carries for Houston. Owen Daniels had five catches for 74 yards for the Texans. Drew Brees completed 33-of-49 passes for 290 yards with one touchdowns and two interceptions for the Saints (4-6), who had won four straight to pull back to .500 after an 0-4 start, but have now dropped two in a row. Marques Colston had nine grabs for 118 yards. In a matchup of the top two overall picks of the 2006 draft, Texans defensive end Mario Williams and Saints running back Reggie Bush, both had decent games. Bush was held to 34 yards on 15 carries on the ground, but gained 70 yards on 12 catches. Williams was credited with six tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble.

Final Score: Indianapolis 13, Kansas City 10

Indianapolis, IN (My Sportsbook) - Adam Vinatieri atoned for a pair of earlier misses by hitting a 24-yard go-ahead field goal with three seconds remaining to give the Indianapolis Colts a 13-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at the RCA Dome. Peyton Manning was 16-for-32 passing for just 163 yards, throwing an interception and failing to throw for a touchdown, as Indianapolis (8-2) leaned on a gutsy defensive outing and a late time- consuming drive to overcome a sluggish offensive performance and snap a two- game losing streak. Manning had not gone a full game without a touchdown pass since a 44-17 loss to Jacksonville on December 10, 2006, a streak of 15 straight games including the playoffs. He did eclipse the 40,000-yard mark for his career, becoming only the 11th passer in NFL history to do so. Joseph Addai rushed 21 times for 72 yards and the lone Colts touchdown, while Reggie Wayne caught four passes for 75 yards. Brodie Croyle, in his first start under center for Kansas City, completed 19- of-27 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown, but the Chiefs offense watched Indy control the ball and milk the clock for nearly the final seven minutes on its way to Vinatieri's game- winner. Dwayne Bowe caught seven passes for 64 yards and a score and Priest Holmes had 55 yards on the ground for the Chiefs (4-6), who have dropped three in a row following a 4-3 start.

Final Score: Jacksonville 24, San Diego 17

Jacksonville, FL (My Sportsbook) - David Garrard, playing for the first time in nearly a month due to a left ankle injury, threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns on 15-of-24 passing, to help the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the San Diego Chargers, 24-17. Fred Taylor rushed 20 times for 85 yards, and Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for a score, as the Jaguars (7-3) won for the second week in a row to remain a game behind Indianapolis for the top spot in the AFC South. Philip Rivers threw for 309 yards and a touchdown on 22-of-40 passing, but threw two costly interceptions, and San Diego (5-5) lost for the second time in three games. LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 62 yards and a score, and also caught five passes for 93 yards. Chris Chambers also had 93 yards receiving on four catches, and Antonio Gates had a touchdown to go with 54 yards receiving, but the Chargers remain winless in Jacksonville all-time.

Final Score: Minnesota 29, Oakland 22

Minneapolis, MN (My Sportsbook) - Chester Taylor gained 164 yards on 22 carries with three touchdowns, and the Minnesota Vikings held off former quarterback Daunte Culpepper and the Oakland Raiders, 29-22. Taylor picked up the Vikings offense in a big way, making up for the lack of rookie star Adrian Peterson, who is out with a ligament tear in his right knee. Tarvaris Jackson, who returned after missing a week following a concussion, was an efficient 17- of-22 for 171 yards with one interception for the Vikings (4-6), who have won two of three. Bobby Wade gained 45 yards on five grabs for Minnesota. Culpepper, back in front of the Minnesota faithful for the first time as an opponent, completed 23-of-39 passes for 344 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Ronald Curry had four catches for 120 yards for the Raiders (2-8), who have lost six straight. Sebastian Janikowski kicked five field goals for Oakland. Culpepper, who made three Pro Bowls as a member of the Vikings from 1999 through 2005 before an acrimonious departure that culminated in a trade to Miami prior to the '06 season, had a chance to tie the game late in regulation.

Final Score: Philadelphia 17, Miami 7

Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - A.J. Feeley threw a touchdown pass after replacing an injured Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook ran for 148 yards, as the Philadelphia Eagles kept the Miami Dolphins winless with a 17-7 triumph at Lincoln Financial Field. McNabb suffered a sprained right ankle in the second quarter and did not return, but Feeley shook off a sluggish start and finished 13-of-19 passing for 116 yards with an interception. He led the Eagles to a pair of second-half touchdowns. The Eagles (5-5), who won consecutive games for the first time this season, also got a touchdown run from Correll Buckhalter and the defense held the hapless Dolphins to just 186 total yards. John Beck struggled in his first NFL start at quarterback for Miami (0-10), completing a mere 9-of-22 passes for 109 yards. Jesse Chatman ran for 72 yards on 22 carries in defeat. The Dolphins scored their lone touchdown on an 87- yard punt return by rookie Ted Ginn Jr. Miami became the first team to start a season with 10 consecutive losses since Detroit dropped its first 12 in 2001. The Lions went on to finish 2-14. No NFL team has completed a full season winless since Tampa Bay went 0-14 in its expansion year of 1976.

Final Score: NY Jets 19, Pittsburgh 16 (OT)

East Rutherford, NJ (My Sportsbook) - Mike Nugent kicked four field goals, including a 28-yarder with 23 seconds left in the fourth quarter and the 38- yard game-winner, 5:03 into overtime, as the New York Jets stunned the Pittsburgh Steelers, 19-16, at the Meadowlands. The teams traded punts to start the overtime. and Leon Washington's 33-yard return set up the Jets at the Pittsburgh 26. Three straight rushes by Thomas Jones pushed the ball to the 20, bringing out Nugent and his kick split the uprights. Kellen Clemens completed 14-of-31 passes for 162 yards with one touchdown and one interception for the Jets (2-8), who snapped a six-game losing streak. Jones rushed for 117 yards on 30 carries and Chris Baker caught four passes for 34 yards and a TD. Laveranues Coles made one catch for 56 yards. Ben Roethlisberger completed 15-of-25 passes for 195 yards with one touchdown and one pick for Pittsburgh (7-3), which had its three-game winning streak snapped. Roethlisberger was also sacked seven times. Santonio Holmes had 75 yards receiving and one score, while Willie Parker chipped in 52 yards on the ground.

Final Score: Dallas 28, Washington 23

Irving, TX (My Sportsbook) - Tony Romo tossed four touchdown passes to Terrell Owens, as the Dallas Cowboys slipped past the Washington Redskins, 28-23, at Texas Stadium. With his effort, Owens tied a 37-year old Cowboy record for the most single- game receiving touchdowns. Bob Hayes also had four back in 1970. Owens ended with eight grabs for 173 yards while Romo went 23- of-32 for 293 yards with an interception for the Cowboys, who improved to 9-1 for the first time since 1983. Jason Campbell was 33-of-54 for 348 yards with two passing touchdowns and a pick for Washington (5-5), which has dropped three of four. Santana Moss hauled in nine catches for 121 yards and a score, helping the Redskins move within striking distance late.

Final Score: St. Louis 13, San Francisco 9

San Francisco, CA (My Sportsbook) - Marc Bulger completed 21-of-32 passes for 155 yards and the only touchdown in the game, helping lead the St. Louis Rams to a 13-9 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Torry Holt caught the touchdown, and had seven total receptions for 55 yards, as the Rams (2-8) are on a two- game winning streak after losing the first eight games of the season. Steven Jackson ran 23 times for 92 yards, and Jeff Wilkins made two field goals in the win. Trent Dilfer started in place of Alex Smith, who is out with a sore shoulder, and threw for 231 yards on 20-of-42 passing. Dilfer also had two interceptions, and the Niners (2-8) lost their eighth in a row. Frank Gore was limited to 31 yards on 15 rushes, and Joe Nedney was 3-for-3 on field goals.

Final Score: Seattle 30, Chicago 23

Seattle, WA (My Sportsbook) - Matt Hasselbeck finished 30-of-44 for 337 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Seattle topped Chicago, 30-23, at Qwest Field. D.J. Hackett caught nine balls for 136 yards and one touchdown and Bobby Engram added eight catches for 84 yards for the Seahawks (6-4), winners in three of their last four games. Maurice Morris, subbing for the injured Shaun Alexander, rushed for 87 yards and one score on 18 carries. Josh Brown nailed three field goals in the victory. Rex Grossman, making his first start since September 23 due to ineffectiveness, threw for 266 yards on 24-of-37 completions but was sacked five times for the Bears (4-6), who have dropped two of three. Cedric Benson gained 89 yards and scored once on 11 carries and Bernard Berrian added nine receptions for 102 yards for Chicago, which has not won in Seattle since 1976.

Final Score: New England 56, Buffalo 10

Orchard Park, NY (My Sportsbook) - Tom Brady tossed five touchdown passes, including four to Randy Moss in the first half, as New England continued its quest for perfection by destroying Buffalo, 56-10, at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Brady produced TDs in the team's first seven possessions and finished 31- of-39 for 373 yards as the Patriots (10-0) won their 13th straight regular season game. They also moved one step closer to joining the storied 1972 Miami Dolphins as the only team in NFL history to go through a season undefeated, with the next test coming in a Week 12 Sunday night matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in Foxboro. Moss, who had 10 catches for 128 yards, set a franchise mark for most touchdowns receiving in a game, and by notching his 16th touchdown catch of the season overall, smashed the previous franchise record of 12 set by Stanley Morgan in 1979. J.P. Losman was just 15-of-26 for 173 yards with a TD and an interception for the Bills (5-5) and struggled mightily against a blitz-happy Patriots defense, which recorded four sacks and limited the Bills to 229 yards of total offense while snapping their four-game win streak. It was the largest margin of defeat in team history, eclipsing a 43-0 loss to Baltimore on October 10, 1971.
