                              By Michael Robinson: Sometimes
an event happens in the world of sports that is
so shocking you can’t believe your own eyes.
That is what happened on Saturday night when Dallas’
Tony Romo blew the game with a botched hold on
                                a field goal attempt.
                              The 25 yard attempt would
have given Dallas a 23-21 lead with just 79 seconds
left. That might not have been a safe lead the
way the Cowboys’ secondary was playing,
but you would have had to like their chances.
The 21-20 heartbreaking loss will likely haunt
                                Romo for years to come.
                              Seattle will now travel next
week to play Chicago. Dallas, on the other hand,
has plenty of questions surrounding the team like
whether Bill Parcells and Terrell Owens will be
back with the team. You can be sure that Parcells
will not be the coach if Owens returns. In any
event, it will be an interesting off-season in
                                Cowboys nation.
                              The other game on Saturday
was Indianapolis beating Kansas City, 23-8 despite
three interceptions from quarterback Peyton Manning.
The Colts’ defense really stepped up to
the plate, holding Larry Johnson to just 32 yards
rushing. The return of their emotional leader,
safety Bob Sanders, was a big factor.
The Colts will play at Baltimore
next week, and Manning knows he must be far more
careful with the ball for Indianapolis to have
                                a chance.
                              If not, Manning moves one
step closer to becoming a modern day Dan Marino,
never winning a Super Bowl. Marino at least made
one Super Bowl, losing to San Francisco and Joe
                                Montana in January of 1985.
                              The early game on Sunday
was New England beating the New York Jets, 37-16.

The game was a lot closer
than the score indicates as it was a one possession
                                game in the 4th quarter.
Still, it was a great win
for this proud New England franchise. It was also
sweet revenge for Coach Bill Belichick after losing
earlier to his former employee, Eric Mangini.
New England now travels to San Diego in a game
that is already getting fans into a frenzy.
The last game of the weekend
was another close one. The Eagles beat the Giants
23-20 in a battle of NFC East rivals. You have
to give the Giants credit for hanging around in
this game as a seven point underdog. Still, they
go home for the winter with Philadelphia heading
                                to New Orleans.
                              Overall for the week, the
favorites were 2-2 against the spread, with New
England and Indianapolis covering as favorites,
and Dallas and the Giants covering as dogs.
