Well, we were finally forced
to make a change at the top, as Chicago was dropped
from the ranks of the undefeated. The Bears are
probably still the best team in the league, but
you can’t argue with perfection and the
Colts are just that at 8-0. The rest of the top
five remained intact.
Week 10 Rank / Team Reason
1.
- Colts - That's two straight road wins
against the best that the AFC has to offer. Maybe
Indy really is for real this season.
2
- Bears
- Talk about a case of looking ahead to your next
opponent. I guarantee the Bears will be much better
in Week 10 versus the Giants. Remember what they
did to San Fran after a poor performance against
the Cards on Monday night?
3
- Patriots - Tom Brady and the offensive
coaching staff mustn't look at the stats very
often. Didn't they know the way to beat the Colts
is to run, run and run?
4
- Giants - A sluggish performance against
the Texans can be explained by this team looking
ahead to this week and the Bears. However, without
Strahan their defensive line depth will be tested.
5
- Broncos - Wow, I have never seen a team
suffer so many defensive injuries in one game.
Luckily, they got by the Steelers and have the
Raiders this week. It's almost like having a bye.
6
- Chargers - So far, so good. One week
in the books without Shawne Merriman and one win.
However, this week they take on a desperate Bengals
team. We'll see many points they give up.
7
- Ravens - Another steady game on offense
and the usual good defense. They have a way to
go, but are pretty good right now.
8
- Saints - That's the - way you rebound
from a bad game. Drew Brees is something special
and I'm thinking he is more popular than Reggie
Bush in the Big Easy these days.
9
- Falcons
- Tell me that stinker in Detroit was just a blip
on the radar, right? Can Atlanta be this unpredictable
and inconsistent?
10
- Jaguars
- Clearly, the team responds well to David Garrard.
He is 7-3 in his career as a starter and something
tells me he's a safe bet to add a win this Sunday
against Houston.
11
- Chiefs - What did that impressive win
in St. Louis mean? Well, it served notice that
KC is a factor for the playoffs, the division
and maybe even the AFC's second seed.
12
- Seahawks - This Seneca Wallace kid is
pretty good. He uses his mobility well and makes
good decisions. But no one's saying they couldn't
use Hasselbeck or Alexander right about now.
Honorable Mentions
Bengals (Defensively, they
are just awful right now), Seahawks (Man, do they
need their QB and RB back in a hurry or what?),
Rams (Was that performance in SD indicative of
their true colors?), Eagles (This bye week could
not come at a better time), Panthers (Flip a coin
and you’ll have a better chance of predicting
which version turns up each week).
